Blomman Mr Blue shares his hands-on experience with the Omega Seamaster PloProf 1200M in titanium, a watch he's had a "love/hate" relationship with due to its size and weight. This article delves into his impressions of the titanium version, which addresses some of his previous concerns.
Friends,
As you all know I am a big fan of divers watches, so maybe not very surprising that the next watch I had a look at in the Vienna Omega Boutique was the: Seamaster PloProf 1200 M!
The version that was on display was the Seamaster PloProf 1200 M/4000 FT in Titanium.
I always had a “love/hate” relationship with the PolProf…
On one hand, I love the raw tool for which it was created!
But on the other hand every time I tried one on I find it a bit too big and a bit too heavy…
Especially on mesh bracelet.
Now the Titanium version is much lighter that the steel which removes one obstacle for me, the weigh.
The grey dial on the TI version is very consisting with the material and the white and orange details gives the watch both character and contrast, IMO.
BUT, the dial doesn’t really “pop” to my eyes if you understand what I mean…
Maybe that is OK with such a large watch, then the dial doesn’t need to scream “look at me”…
But personally I would have preferred the blue dial of the Gold/Titanium version, but in full TI, bezel, crown, case…
On the wrist I would prefer the rubber strap over the mesh bracelet.
It is big, it is bold, it got a given place in the history of diving watches….
And it is SUPER COOL!
Again, a big thank you to the Vienna Omega Boutique for letting me play with this one.
Best
Blomman
Tempted, for sure. Here's also a Boutique picture: I have the SS version and it looks much more bold than the Ti version. Cheers, Nilo
And during the dive, this one! Best Blomman
But also heavier.... Best Blomman
The Ploprof needs to sit on a diving suit.
And a great case you make for it here, too. I automatically dismissed it as too heavy for my wrist, not realising that it\'s titanium. Still, as my diving does not go beyond 1m, not a natural choice for me but I do find the grey theme appealing (and fitting to the titanium material of the case). Thanks for sharing!
Not a small watch, for sure, but still wearable. I didn't try the re edition, so I can't say. Same size? Best, Nicolas
