After the Vasco Di Gama unveiled mast year, Montblanc comes back, this year, with a crazy creation, the pocket watch version with same Geospheres, and a world time. Or, more precisely two different ways to read the time in the different cities of the world, depending on which hemisphere you live, north or south.

The Vasco Di Gama:

Now, the Pocket Watch:

Made in white gold, the case has a superb black grand feu enamel bezel, whose style reminds us the superb creations from the early 19th century from another brand which is dear to my heart...

The dial is in solid white gold with some wave engraved, while the part of the tourbillon is in... Aventurine. Just gorgeous. Without forgetting the very sensual tourbillon bridge, twisted, and beveled by hand, which is pretty demanding and a feast for the eyes. The rose gold ands add sensuality and contrast. Good. And no mention of the name on the dial. Even better.

The two globes are superb, too. They are fixed, but the two 24 hours rings turn, of cours,e to dhow what moment of the day we are in the two hemispheres, if I got it right.

The case has a good 60 millimeters diameter and 20, 90 mm height.

Here we are in the excessiveness, aesthetically and mechanically, but, in my opinion, in a positive way, because the size is all dedicated to the pleasure of the eye.

Mechanically, the movement is a giant, with a diameter of 38, 40 mm and a 14, 5 mm balance wheel.

As we are at it, the back side of the movement is hand engraved with some wave patterns.

The complications?

The tourbillon, first, if we can call a tourbillon a complication. This one is very nice with its large balance wheel and has a cylindrical spring.

Then you have the world time, the main complication of this watch, which can be read from the north and south hemispheres, as previously said.

The only issues: The price, even if I imagine it more than I know it, and the fact that it is limited to 8 pieces.

With this watch ,you will need deep pockets, by all meanings. At the level of the pleasure it will certainly give you.

I adore it!

Best,

Nicolas

A real joy to behold

The (almost) perfect modern pocket watch. The only thing distracting to my eye are those screws holding the case back.

A very attractive pocket watch Nico

Great finishing all around! A very high end timepiece indeed Pocket watches whilst less practical are really romantic to hold in the hand. Charming and old school. I won\'t be able to afford this but I think I may want a pocket watch some day Thanks for the pictures and sharing your thoughts Nico Cheers Robin
