While I am in principle happy that the brand name is again adorning the dials of watches I am likewise happy with this from the past era. Back in the day the golden ratio principle of movement design also bore fruit in terms of overall proportioning, which is a lesson that the Montblanc era didn’t always hit equally well.

At any rate, a fresh shot of the Pythagore, with its classical 34mm size πŸ‘”

About the Montblanc Minerva Pythagore

The Montblanc Minerva Pythagore represents a fascinating chapter in the brand's horological evolution following their acquisition of Minerva in 2006. This piece draws from Montblanc's efforts to leverage the venerable Swiss manufacture's century-plus heritage in precision timekeeping, particularly Minerva's renowned chronograph expertise. The Pythagore name itself suggests mathematical precision, aligning with Minerva's historical reputation for creating instruments used by professionals and explorers.

The watch displays classical proportions with Roman numeral indexing and a clean, symmetrical dial layout that emphasizes legibility over ornamentation. The polished case construction and traditional crown positioning reflect conservative design choices that prioritize wearability. The manual-winding movement architecture connects directly to Minerva's pre-Montblanc manufacturing traditions, when the company focused on producing reliable calibers for both civilian and military applications.

Within Montblanc's contemporary lineup, the Minerva Pythagore occupies a specialized position for collectors seeking entry into the brand's higher-end mechanical offerings without venturing into precious metal territory. The model appeals to enthusiasts who appreciate Minerva's technical heritage while accepting Montblanc's modern interpretation of that legacy. Market reception has been generally positive among buyers seeking Swiss manufacture credentials at accessible price points, though purists sometimes debate the relationship between contemporary Montblanc production and historical Minerva values.

This is a class act…

Not so sure about the new crownless Minerva. Rather chunky for otherwise quite a refined dial design
