The internet is all about unboxings right? Here's an unboxing of the highly anticipated M.A.D. 1 Red!

A cool sleeve holds the packaging together.

The packaging is clever, functional, and probably environmentally friendly.

I did say the packaging was clever.

Ta Da!

The watch doesn’t come with a warranty card, but does come with a UV flashlight! And a felt pouch! Awesome!

The watch made it safely!

The Famous Turtle Crown!

It’s actually pretty easy to read the time. I like it!

The red is actually a nice red. There’s a candy apple red to it, and the anodized treatment gives it a deeper look as well as a metallic look. I'm really digging this red color! There's some shadow play in this photo that shows what the watch is like in dim lighting and brighter lighting. I don't always like glossy lipstick reds and I'm so pleased this one comes out deep and very anodized.

The first photo is always the worse. Bad lighting, yet the watch still looks good. That battle axe swings like MAD! And I was so excited that I didn't realize there was still plastic film on this watch! Oops! The watch is just so cool. Regardless of the price point. Regardless of anything. It's just a cool watch. And there are so many nice automotive touches; the holes on the strap look like the holes in my driving gloves.
There's something called buyer's remorse and there's something called buyer's euphoria. This purchase DEFINITELY elicits BUYER'S EUPHORIA! Even if this were a watch from an unknown brand, it'd be already worth around the original price. The fact that it's from a known brand (and one that's held to such high esteem) makes the watch a super bargain, as the value of the concept makes this watch an incredibly fun piece that is totally in the vein of the awesome pieces created at the mad lab of MB&F.
What else can I say about the Skunkworks brand MB&F? They just get it right almost all the time. They also unfortunately get a bite out of my bank account more often than not.
For any non-conformist rogue watch collector, the rouge (red) M.A.D. 1 Red is a perfect watch. It's an incredibly good concept that's also well executed. There are cars that are Super-Cars and cars that are Hyper-Cars. This watch is definitely in one of those categories. Despite its accessible price. Now, is it a "Hyper-Watch" or a "Super-Watch" either way, this is one cool watch! A Super-Bargain Hyper-Watch! Hmm, when is Lamborghini going to sell me a Super-Bargain Super/Hyper-Car? Big thanks to the guys at MB&F! Now I need to go back to the watch and start removing all that plastic film.
P.S. The watch really belongs in outer-space. But since there's no gravity in outer space, the automatic winding system won't really work. Human beings want this very desirable watch. But so would aliens!
