Patrick_y’s original post introduces the highly anticipated M.A.D.1 Green, a new iteration of a timepiece that began as a 'thank you' to MB&F supporters. This article delves into the watch's unique position in the market, exploring its design, value proposition, and the community's response to its release. Patrick_y provides historical context for the M.A.D.1 series, highlighting its evolution from an exclusive gesture to a widely sought-after horological phenomenon.

The geniuses at M.A.D. Gallery have done it again!  If you didn't like M.A.D. 1 Red, well, they've now stopped producing the red version and they've now started making a GREEN ONE!

A Little M.A.D. 1 History...

The M.A.D. 1 Edition started off as a way of giving back - not all of MB&F's friends, suppliers, and employees were able to afford an MB&F timepiece - many of them cost $100,000 USD or more!  And Max Busser decided to make a blue watch for his friends, vendors, and suppliers at a very fair price point in order to thank them for their belief in MB&F and support of MB&F.  The watch was priced at an incredibly low price then of 1,900 CHF, obviously not a profit center, for MB&F clients, vendors, and employees.  Only a small amount was intended to be produced as it was intended to be offered as a "Thank You" to supporters of MB&F, again, the value of the watch was far greater than 1,900 CHF, there was no profit motivation behind it.  The response was SO ENORMOUS that this quiet release became one of the biggest things going on in the watch industry for a while - kind of like a MoonSwatch phenomenon but for high horology.  Yes, the craze for the M.A.D. 1 watches was only exceeded by the mass market scale of MoonSwatch!

The MB&F team saw a tremendous demand for the M.A.D. timepieces and upon realizing that demand, they did some careful analysis.  With such a small team of watchmakers who were only making a couple hundred watches a year, they weren't really equipped to make hundreds of these M.A.D. timepieces.  However, in response to demand, the company eventually readjusted their business plan to be able to offer more of these.

Here's a video of the RED version!

The Latest M.A.D. 1 Watch...

The green version is limited to 1500 units!  I hope I get one - as I call this watch "The Modern Tortue/Turtle" case and the green one looks even closer to the turtle!  I like this one even more than the red one!  And I VERY MUCH LIKE the red one!

Please watch this video before you enter the raffle.  Raffle link below the video:

The raffle for the green version is now open to all!  Please register your interest here: https://shop.madgallery.ch/products/m-a-d-1-green-raffle

You have two weeks to enter the raffle!

Good luck!  I believe the raffle is open to all, but it's possible that they may exclude existing raffle owners of the M.A.D. 1!  As always, MB&F vendors, supporters, employees, and registered TRIBE members are welcome to order one as well.

Bonne chance!

The watch uses an inverted Miyota movement.

Notice you tell time through the side of the watch.  WPS Moderator Patrick_y calls this watch the "Modern Tortue" case - as the shape of the case design!  This is one of the most significant new case designs this millennium!  A future icon?

Looks good on the wrist!

I don't know if I'm allowed to enter into the green raffle. They may filter out my entrance. Oh boy. The green version looks more turtle-y than the red version. AND I like the turtle look of this watch!!!

For me, I think the only one that can top this is a purple version 💜

A purple version!!! ooohhHH la la! I want! I want! No purple colored turtles in the wild though. They're black, green, yellow, and brown. I'm still in my turtle theme. I think a purple one is possible! Maybe in a few years!!!
