India Whiskey Charlie's deeply personal account of a traumatic watch theft serves as a critical reminder for all collectors about the inherent risks associated with luxury possessions. His experience, detailed in a linked article, underscores the importance of vigilance and robust security measures in an increasingly complex world for watch enthusiasts. This piece is essential reading for understanding the broader implications of collecting beyond the horology itself.
PS: I'm taking the liberty of moving it to HoMe so more members can see it, and it also gets picked up on the Front page. Cheers.
And thank you for your advice. Thankful to hear that you were ok. Peter
We all need to carefully consider our personal security. This is particularly relevant when considering a GTG of any kind.
I know how it feel to get a watch stolen and its no fun tbh .
Definitely, these days, I think twice before wearing an expensive watch for any out of the house activities. All of your advices certainly make a lot of sense to me. Best, Gerard
And not the first such story over the years. You have to be vigilant at all times. I am also a believer in a bank boxes for storage. I never travel with more than whatever I wear, and even at home I never have more than 1 nice watch. A bolted down safe is great, but if an intruder holds a gun to a loved ones head, it is going to be opened very quick.
