The Zenith Pilot Cronometro Tipo CP-2 represents a modern interpretation of military aviation chronographs, drawing from Zenith's substantial history in pilot's watches dating back to the early 20th century. While not directly descended from vintage military contracts like some competitors, Zenith leveraged their El Primero chronograph heritage to create this contemporary tool watch that balances historical aesthetics with modern functionality.
The 43mm steel case houses Zenith's robust automatic chronograph movement, featuring the brand's signature high-frequency architecture. The dial layout follows classic aviation chronograph principles with large, luminous Arabic numerals and subsidiary registers positioned for optimal legibility. The bidirectional rotating bezel adds functional versatility beyond pure chronograph timing, while the vintage-inspired leather strap with contrast stitching reinforces the watch's aviation DNA.
This reference occupies an interesting position in today's pilot chronograph market, competing against established icons from IWC and Breitling while offering Zenith's distinctive movement technology. The CP-2 appeals to collectors seeking an alternative to more common aviation chronographs, though it lacks the vintage military provenance that drives premium pricing in related segments. Its relatively accessible positioning within Zenith's catalog makes it an entry point for collectors interested in the brand's chronograph capabilities without the investment required for higher-tier El Primero models.
I need to catch a flight there immediately!π«ππ€£π For me,, it would be the Breguet Type XX!!!πππ
I have wanted one for a long, long time. It was the first "cool" watch I saw. My uncle showed me one when I was a kid online, but for some reason have never got around to buying one. Then a few months ago, a friend brought out two vintage ones and a modern navitimer...and I have been checking listings ever since lol
Iβm having a hard time making up my mind which one Iβd take gratis, but Iβm leaning toward the Breguet. In this order, Breguet, Heuer, Zenith and Breitling. Great post!
Iβd want to see box and blank papers and HIS receipts from the manufacture before I would discuss one.
Even though I have a Type XXI another one slightly different would always be a good choice. Marc
If you switch the first two you would have my order. Breguet (dream), Zenith, Breitling and Heuer.
