100 pieces.

The platinum remains my favorite, but this one has a lot of charm.

Best,

About the A. Lange & Sohne Langematik Ref. 308.021

The Langematik represents A. Lange & Söhne's entry into automatic watchmaking following the brand's post-reunification revival in 1994. This particular example is a Wempe special edition, produced exclusively for the renowned German retailer. The Langematik collection emerged as Lange's answer to creating an automatic movement that maintained the brand's rigorous finishing standards while offering the convenience of self-winding functionality, marking a significant departure from their manually-wound heritage pieces.

The watch features the Lange L921.2 movement, distinguished by its instantaneous date change mechanism and the brand's signature oversized date display. The regulator-style dial layout with separate subdials for running seconds and power reserve indicator reflects Lange's German watchmaking philosophy of clarity and precision. The yellow gold case measures 38.5mm, striking a balance between classical proportions and contemporary wearability. Roman numerals and railroad minute track reinforce the traditional aesthetic language.

Wempe editions carry particular significance among Lange collectors due to their limited production and the historical relationship between the retailer and German watchmaking. These special editions often feature subtle distinguishing marks and represent collaborative pieces between two institutions deeply rooted in German horological tradition. The Langematik Wempe editions occupy a unique position in the secondary market, appealing to collectors who appreciate both the technical accomplishment of Lange's automatic movement and the exclusivity of retailer partnerships.

It's 41mm. (As per Sotheby's, there's one in action right now)

Some have it erroneously listed as 40.5mm, like "Pour la Merite" cases...
