Jrwong23 (aka watchthebin) shares his acquisition of the A. Lange & Söhne Datograph in rose gold with a black dial, affectionately known as the 'Dufour Datograph.' This post details his preference for the warmer aesthetic of rose gold over platinum and his journey to find this specific, less commonly produced variant. His personal reflections offer a unique collector's perspective on a highly sought-after chronograph.

Dear all I am sorry for spamming the Lange forum here. I just posted my new Lange 1 RG which I got last week but didn't have the time to post then. The Lange 1 is my second Lange.

Some of you know my first Lange is a platinum Datograph. Lately, I felt my platinum Datograph has the same color combination as my Montblanc Villeret grand feu enamel chronograph both being in white metal with a black dial... I then started to hunt for another Datograph but this time in rose gold and black dial, ie the Dufour Datograph or Dufourgraph - commonly known names for this version. I also learned that I prefer the warmer look of this RG black dial Datograph compared to the colder platinum Datograph.

As you know this RG black dial model was produced in less number of years so it took me awhile to find it. Thankfully one of my very close watch collector friend found one in a great condition and just went thru complete servicing in the Lange Manufacture and he helped me buy it overseas - I just got it today from him! smile

we did a gtg today, just 5 of us and some people couldn't make it - I will share some gtg pics very soon!

Meanwhile, some pics of my newly acquired Dufourgraph or should I call it Wongraph instead (my last name is Wong haha). It came with a brand new black strap but I changed it to a reddish brown short strap and changed from the original tang to a RG deployment buckle from the Lange boutique. Feels more secure for a Dato to be on a deployment buckle.

As for my platinum Dato, it has found a new owner who loves her more than i do - one of my bro collector friends got it from me. smile I love the platinum Dato but prefer the RG black dial Dato for its warmth.

So now I have 2 RG Langes and am loving them! Will share some better pics and macro shots over the next few weeks smile

Cheers
Robin

Same movement I adore but with a warmer case now <img src="/img/watchprosite/openwysiwyg/smiley/smile.gif" class="smiley" alt="smile">

The Pt Dato is such a beast that I am not sure the rose gold is better.. But it is you, and your choice. And yes, it makes sense to have your 2 Lange in the same metal. Enjoy, my friend! Best, Nicolas

Between pt Dato and "dufour Dato". The warmth of RG and the allure of RG and black dial flipped me to the dufour Dato side ! :) I think you are very much a white metal guy. I suspect Fx also likes RG and black dial combinations :) Actually from mine will be called "Wongraph" from now on :) My name for my watch :) Cheers Robin

Great to discover this combo Dufourgraph (or Wongraph) on brown strap and deployant buckle. Wait to discover your following posts on this splendid watch. How do you describe the feeling on wrist of your 2 versions: Pt and RG? For me, Pt version was too heavy for me and at each time I had the feeling that my wrist was turning. A no go to have one. Enjoy your new RG babies. BR, Patrickh

Wrist comfort wise I do prefer this RG version to be honest. I tend to wear my Pt version in the past for a few hours in the office then remove it to rest my wrist and also to admire the movement from the caseback. We tried our friend's Dato up down in Pt and found that it somehow sat better on the wrist as the weight is more distributed across a wider 41mm compared to the dato's 39mm Will let you know how I feel about this RG Dato over time in terms of its weight and comfort on the wrist but de

for sure. A "Datograph collector" needs to have both, at least. Will you make them complete, one day. ... Only a few more to go ... Congrats, so far! I start to think you are infected by our common friend Horo, even when he isn´t that often here anymore. Still he is with you in Singapur ... :-) Just so hungy you are ... Keep them coming and thanks a lot for sharing your passion! Oliver

I also have tried the Dato up/down, more comfortable on my wrist but not my taste in fact. Warm (RG) regards ;-)) Patrickh
