In a bold declaration, WatchProSite's 'holdemchamp1225' ignites a passionate debate by proclaiming the MB&F Sequential Evo has dethroned the A. Lange & Söhne Double Split as the 'King of Chronographs.' This article delves into the technical innovations and horological philosophies that underpin this provocative claim, inviting readers to explore the nuances of what defines a truly groundbreaking chronograph in the modern era. 'holdemchamp1225' leverages his extensive collection, spanning decades and complexities, to offer a unique perspective on this horological rivalry.

Ever heard the expression OLD Cow - NEW Cow ?

In this instance, I think it applies well 🤣

Always considered the Double Split the original King of Chronographs but in my honest opinion the new MB&F Sequential Evo has dethroned the King.

2 different types of Chronographs and watches in general which can still exist in any chronograph fan's collection 😉👌

Not the greatest photo so I will take a few in natural light tomorrow 🤪

The MB&F is more impressive technically but the DS is more impressive visually on the back but not the front. Both great chronographs to have my friend.

but I am easily partial to the MB&F. It's mind-boggling without a doubt! Thanks for the pics!! Cheers, Filip

The DS can do more with one movement than the MB&F can do with two. If you press the ten o'clock button twice, it will record and display the best lap or worst lap, with the hands either moving forwards or backwards! The MB&F is visually striking and "easier" to understand and handle but it is, imho, not as ground breaking as the DS was and still is. You are a very lucky man to own both!

Let's go a step deeper... The king chrono should also be fit for a King. A great king doesn't need to be verbose, but true power is best displayed doing less, with an elegant boldness.

I favor the DS of those two due to its timeless design. But are they the Kings of chronographs? To me, this leaves out of debate the Minerva MB hand wound chronographs. A king must not necessarily be the most complicated object, its also about doubtless history of chronographic achievements, finish and basic technical layout to me (like we have it there with the 16.29 caliber).

But as a fan of Chronographs with triple digit Chronographs in my collection ranging from vintage to modern, monopushers to double Rattrapantes, Foudroyantes, manual winds, automatics, several from the 1930s, 1940s, 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, 2010s, 2020s, etc...I think I am in a rather unique position to give an objective point of view 😉👌 Although Minerva Chronographs are beautifully finished and spectacular, they are in no way near the top of ICONIC Chronographs my friend.
