Americano seeks information on a newly acquired A. Lange & Söhne antimagnetic pocket watch, specifically regarding the 'Anti-Magnetisch' inscription on its dial. He notes the watch's palladium balance wheel and lever, features designed to reduce magnetic interference, and questions the significance of the red dial text, which appears to be an uncommon characteristic for Lange's antimagnetic pieces.

Hello fellow purist

I have a new pocketwatch which I think is an A1 anker chronometer

My question is about the dial and spefically the red writing  anti- magnetisch on the dial .

I have searched in the watch catalogus of auction houses and online .

I found that L&S made anti magnetic pocket watches but not one has the writing on the dial. Also I cannot find further information on L&S and anti magnetism.

Also it has the anti magnetic features of paladium balance wheel and lever.

Is there a significance to the mention of anti magnetisch  ?

And like milgauss why is antimagnetic always written in red?

I think it is important because vacheron claimed to have the first truly anti magnetic pocket watch .

This Lange & Söhne is dated late 1910...

Thanks in advance.

to ask Mr. Reichel from German Watch Museum in Glashütte for a Certificate. He is a very helpful expert and should be able to answer your questions. For me the minute and seconds hand looks bent and the balance spring has the same blue color as the normal movements which are not antimagnetic.

All A 1 anchor grade cronometers come with gold jewel settings . , gold balance wheel and gold lever .and diamond endstone . Nothing to do with the spring . But this one comes in paladium.

Picture Added for illustration on the bottom ot comment. Point of view on the movement note that the raised jewel settings (2) (highest quality of settings )are made of gold and the settings are screwed into the plate, the end stone on the regulator is a diamond (1) instead of a rubie, the lever and balance wheel is of palladium or platinum ( metals to reduce the effects of magnetism on the precision of the watch. I also guess the swan neck regulator is of platinum or paladium . . . You can also
