KIH offers an exclusive report from the Jaquet Droz Art Dial Collection Special Night at the Ginza Boutique, providing a rare opportunity to explore the brand's exquisite dial craftsmanship. This post showcases a range of meticulously crafted timepieces, emphasizing Jaquet Droz's resurgence in high-quality artisan skills and its historical design philosophy. His detailed photo essay captures the beauty and intricacy of these unique dials.

I was invited by the manager of the Ginza Boutique of Jaquet Droz (J*D) of the Art Dial Collection Special Night for the selected clientele and had an opportunity to see and handle the more exquisite and very well made dial collection of J*D.  Once again, J*D is really getting better and back to where it used to be - very high quality dial craftsmanship.

Last month, I did a report on Paillon dial.

And they brought many more interesting dial collections to Tokyo this time.

This cake will be served later... smile

Petite Heure Minute Relief #1

Sculptured out from the gold brick...all one piece....  wow...

#2

See the other side of the wing is directly written on the MOP dial

Such a craftsmanship.....

Now the yet another Paillon Dial appears - but notice a slight difference in its making than the one I reported previously:
home.watchprosite.com

Smaller piece of metal, harder to put on the dial....

Notice there is no "Champleve".... perhaps made by other atelier?

This is an interesting series as well...

The Heure Celeste: 41mm Onix dial

41mm White MOP with Diamonds

The Lade 8 - first time to see the actual one.

Inside bezel are lots of diamonds....

The buckle design has been a bit modified.

... and look at the hands - bent as the dial and the glass are domey...  nicely done.....

Overall, very attractive design for ladies.

Thank you very much for the invitation, Hayashi-san (Manager of J*D Boutique Ginza) and all the boutique staff.
Wonderful creations.  Wonderful craftsmanship for the dials...

Happy holidays, everyone!

I do think one day soon a Jaquet Droz will enter my collection. Of the ones you showed, my absolute favourite is The Loving Butterfly. I will be very tempted to empty my wallet if I see that one in the Shanghai boutique. Thanks for the wonderful report. Dean

Like I said, Dean, J*D is getting back on its feet and coming back - to put it mildly, it had been in the tunnel for a prolonged time. I would be happy to see someone put one in his/her collection! Lady 8 would be my choice - if and when I found someone :-) I love beautiful dials! Thank you, Dean. Happy holidays! Ken

Thanks Ken, Great coverage. This collection is really the core of J*D timepieces for me. The company wanted to expand their appeal and market share in recent years, at least that is my outside view, but it is wonderful to see this focus on artisan skills, dials, sculptures and beauty. They are drawing on the long history of the original Jaquet Droz designs and philosophy and I am impressed with many of these pieces. Thanks again. Andrew

... to me, they are coming back with their original long history and skill set, mind set, and craftsmanship. I am glad to see their new dials and aggressive new models (like Lady 8) to the market.... Ken

Paillon is my absolute fav among JD's special dials. Even just the pics is enough to convince me. Sad that i have no chance to see it in person yet.

That is almost "dying" technique as the Paillon piece is so hard to make today. I would pick that one, too..... But enamel dial, painted enamel especially, are not to be missed, either :-) Ken
