cfn's unexpected encounter with a fellow Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Chronographe Rétrograde owner sparked a fascinating horological mystery. This article delves into cfn's investigation into why two watches of the same reference, serial numbers 208 and 413, exhibit a subtle yet significant difference in jewel count. His inquiry, even reaching a well-placed contact at JLC, uncovers insights into the evolution of this iconic caliber.

Not every day you see two Reverso Chronographe Rétrograde side by side. Please say hi to no. 208 and no. 413. One with 37 jewels and the other with 36.

Why is there a difference in jewels number between the two?

This chrono is raising my interest in the recently introduced steel model…which is worrisome for my wallet. But you make it look so good.👌🏽

That is a little bizarre!?

Maybe movement update during model run? Odd because this was the only ref using this I'd believe (and the gransport?)? All I know, it's beautiful!

I haven’t found the explanation yet…

…and the other owner was also aware of this but did also not have the explantion. Maybe there”s a WIS in here who knows? And as for the tribute, I honestly prefer this (original) version due to the better size (for me) and the ‘Arret/Marche’ indicator on the front. Claus

Amazing nearly identical twins!

Did they win or lose a jewel with time? Best, E.
