Nicolas (amanico) sparks a lively discussion on the concept of a 'summer watch' within the Jaeger-LeCoultre collection, challenging the notion that any JLC can be worn year-round. His post, richly illustrated with diverse JLC models, invites collectors to consider which pieces truly excel in various summer activities, from water sports to formal dining.

Just a few hours ago I was wrestling with which two watches to take with me for a week in the South Florida sun. I am sitting in Heathrow Terminal 5 enjoying a bit of early dinner and reading your post ahead of my flight. These are the two I chose to accompany me this week. No formal events, just play with the family and I think these fit the bill. Coincidentally, I took two JLC pieces. Dave.
As you rightly say, the TTDS can go everywhere, and the E855 is nice to wear in most climates with a steel bracelet.
definitely for all sporty and casual activities. Fits great when I am wearing polos or tees with shorts. I think a chrono on rubber strap is a plus for sporty activities. Maybe the EL II is not so appropriate for summer fine dining but we do not go to 4-star restaurants these days.
Very cool and interesting watch.
