rnaden's long-term review of his Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso GT offers a compelling look at a watch that transcends mere horology to become a cherished personal artifact. His insights into its wearability, enduring design, and sentimental value provide a rich perspective for collectors considering this iconic JLC reference. The discussion further explores the GT's 'sweet spot' sizing and its versatility for various complications.

Finally getting down to writing down my experience with perhaps is one of JLC's finest and most iconic watches. This has been with me for more than 5 years and remains my most frequently used watches on the weekday and especially on business travels, occasionally alternating with the GO Sixties because of what I term its "low profile" looks, which is extremely important when it comes to some places that I have to travel to. That plus the omission of the date which really helps the ease in setting time when crossing timezones - a good thing IMO as it preserves the balance of the dial.

Aside from being one of my favorites in my small collection because of the wonderful Cal922 and nice timeless size, it's also one that holds a value that's beyond dollars, cents and heritage - it was a gift from my wife when we celebrated our 10th anniversary, and so the engravings on the case back add an exclusive value to it that none of the others in my collection matches. That also takes the need for a clear caseback away - though I'm one who likes to see the movement inside, especially when I know that it is one that's well built and finished and would fit this case just nicely.

It is small by the standards of today in most part of Asia where the big and large watch trend has overtaken the decently sized timeless dimensions of 40mm give and take one or two.. This GT measures 42mm lug to lug, and I must admit feels tiny if I put in on after a day with a Panerai 44mm and gives a feeling that my wrist is naked. Only fix is to gradually tone down - take of the large one and go without a watch for about 30 minutes before strapping this on smile Strangely though, I've received a lot of comments about the watch from being "old looking" to "very nice and classic", but not once has anyone commented that it looks too small, which is a testament to JLC getting the dimensions just right when it was conceived.

The strap is still the original after all this time, and I am actually amazed that it has held up this long in the humid climate where I live. That almost makes me wonder why I would even consider a third party strap since the JLC ones are really good. And as I've mentioned before in my write up of my MUT Moon, JLC still has the most comfortable strap/deployant combos out there, so no complaints at all there. If anything, it does its job exceedingly well, keeping the watch centered and very comfortable to wear.

In terms of what it should do best - keeping and telling time, it is flawless. The hand wind movement is a joy to wind every morning - this hasn't been serviced at all, and keeps running aside from the occasional weekends when it stops because of an added off work day, it only adds 20+ seconds per month (give and take since the second markers only show graduations of 10 secs).

Words and pictures don't do this watch justice, and is something I have experienced and felt. Trying to say it here is tough, but here are some pictures to share. A keeper for sure, and will remain a daily wear for a long time to come. This is one watch that does what it needs to do real well and does that while staying timeless and fabulous.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the watch. Intrinsic value is always more important especially when articles have sentimental value. The Reverso comes in different sizes and we do not have a standard wrist size, yet each of the Reverso mates well with its owner. The only leather Reverso I have is a Gran Sport automatic. In today's standard, it becomes a lady's Reverso. For me, it still sits comfortably on my wrist. Compliments have come to compare the leather band with Hermes. The fact i

You're absolutely right about putting on a Reverso to see if it fits. In recent years, I've contemplated a second Reverso, but the Grande cases and the squadras just don't sit on my smaller wrist well. Yours is already a classic, and I especially like how the date window is designed well and doesn't take away the balance of the dial. The touch of red on the dial brings life to the watch as well. I'm not familiar with this model though - how long have you had it? From the looks, it looks like it

I have also been looking for another Reverso, e.g. the Grande Reverso, unfortunately it is simply too big on my wrist. That is a beautiful and practical watch. But then not all Reverso can be my time mate. I also do not like the idea of worrying too much when it rains or water splashing on the leather band or watch, therefore I picked the Gran Sport when it was launched. Being the first sports version of Reverso and it has the 960R movement which was at the time also used by other fame manufactu

5 years and a half, that starts to be a story! What to add? The Reverso is a classic, an icon. A Watch apart, in the production. As for the size, I find it very harmonious in the GT case. Small is very subjective, I would say elegant, or even better, than Elegance can most often be found in reasonnably sized watches. The story of yours is a big cherry on an already superb Watch. Bravo! Thanks for this post, my friend. Best, Nicolas.

Perfect description of this beautiful watch. Thanks for the kind words, Nicolas. Watches are our passions, and when those passions intertwine with moments that are special in life, those passions translate into history, value and memories, and that makes all the difference from nice to beautiful.
