The Queen's Cup held from May 22nd to June 16th, 2013, is one of the most prestigious polo competitions in Europe. Renowned as the first high goal tournament in England, the trophy was first presented to the Club by HM The Queen in 1960 and Her Majesty historically attends Finals Day. Each polo team is 22-goal polo at its best (17-22 goals).

This year Jaeger-LeCoultre is the official partner of a new team, Jaeger-LeCoultre Cortium, with 22 goals to its credit and consisting of the Argentinian national team player and Jaeger- LeCoultre ambassador Eduardo Novillo Astrada (handicap 9); Adrian Kirby (handicap 1); Chris Mackenzie (handicap 5) and Francisco Elizalde (handicap 7).

On May 23, for its first match of the Guards Polo Club's most important competition, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Cortium team beat Sumaya 10–9.

The Argentinian polo player Eduardo Novillo Astrada is one of the few players to have achieved a handicap of 10 – the highest figure achievable in this sport. A Jaeger-LeCoultre ambassador since 2006, he is one of the very best players in the world, and famously won the 2003 Argentine Triple Crown together with his three brothers.

"I'm a great believer in Jaeger-LeCoultre's values, including team spirit, passionate commitment, elegance, and, in my view most importantly of all, the family." Eduardo Novillo Astrada.

Jaeger-LeCoultre and the world of polo

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso is the only watch in the world whose history is so closely intertwined with the world of polo. The Reverso was created in 1931 at the request of polo-playing British Indian Army officers who had become tired of having their watches regularly damaged by some of the game's more violent strokes. The legendary reversible case was invented to protect the timepiece's dial and glass by ensuring that it is the metal case-back that is exposed to any possible impacts. Unique in its kind, the Reverso is thus the first watch to have been specifically designed for the practising of a sport, while at the same time never sacrificing elegance to practical requirements. Over 80 years after the birth of this legendary model, Jaeger-LeCoultre today once again confirms the strong links that tie it to the world of polo in its capacity as partner of the famous Jaeger-LeCoultre Cortium team.

Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre. The Inventors of the Vallée de Joux.

A leading player in watchmaking history since 1833, Jaeger-LeCoultre is celebrating its 180th anniversary. At a time when the Swiss horological industry was still built around home-based workshops, Antoine LeCoultre and his son Elie decided to unite under one roof the many forms of expertise involved in making a watch. LeCoultre & Cie thus become the first Manufacture of the Vallée de Joux. It now houses the over 180 skills required to develop and produce the most prestigious timepieces. Committed to a constant quest for excellence and supported by a uniquely inventive spirit, Jaeger-LeCoultre perpetuates the tradition of Grande Complication models introduced by the Manufacture through a succession of extraordinary creations: Atmos Mystérieuse (2003), Gyrotourbillon 1 (2004), Reverso Grande Complication à Triptyque (2006), Master Compressor Extreme Lab 1 (2007), Reverso Gyrotourbillon 2 (2008), Duomètre à Grande Sonnerie (2009), Master Grande Tradition Grande Complication (2010), Reverso Répétition Minutes à Rideau (2011), Duomètre Sphérotourbillon (2012) and Master Grande Tradition Gyrotourbillon 3 Jubilee (2013).
