I think that this 40mm MUT is one of those rare watches which actually benefits from having a the date window. When I tried one on, I was surprised that the dial seemed to be a huge expanse —— Without the date window, it would be as barren as the plains of Nebraska. And that’s not a good thing. The date window to my eye gives a needed spot of visual interest, and reduces the perceived size of the dial. Its location at 6:00 does not disturb symmetry. On this model, the date, logo and 2 index tips at 3 and 9 form a perfect circle within the circle. So, I think the date works VERY WELL on this piece. To me, this piece is as beautiful as the Patrimony or ANY Calatrava. -Dean
