Amanico revisits the 2009 Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Compressor Navy SEALs collection, offering a nostalgic look at three distinct models: the Chronograph, Pro Géographique, and Alarm. His post highlights the unique features and design philosophies behind each timepiece, prompting a community discussion on their enduring appeal and perceived military connection.

I played on some old press releases I stocked somewhere in my house and fell on the 2009 edition.

In 2009, there were two series of watches which pleased or interested me a lot: The Master Compressor Line and the Master Grande Tradition Minute Repeater. I will come back to this last one soon, but for the moment, let's focus on the " NAVY SEALs "...

Three watches, three possibilities... The Chronograph, the Pro Geographique and the Alarm.

The most evident is the Alarm, which is somewhere between the Deep Sea Alarm and the Polaris. 44 mm titanium case, 1500 pieces. Rubber articulated bracelet, or leather and Nato strap. Ceramic bezel. Rubber coated crowns. Water resistance: 300 meters.

The Chronograph was available in titanium ( 1500 pieces ) or in rose gold ( 500 pieces ). 46, 3 mm case. Chronograph and GMT. Same choices of bracelet and straps, Same choice for the rubber coated crowns and pushers. Water resistance: 1000 meters for the titanium Grade 5. 300 meters for the rose gold.

The Pro Géographique was the most surprising among the three... Same choices of bracelet and straps, but available only in rose gold, in a limited edition of 300 pieces. 46, 3 mm case.  I would have expected something more " extreme " for this NAVY SEALs version of the Pro Géo, rather than a rose gold version. Something like a ceramic case, for example, or a Titanium PVD coated case?

Mechanical depth gauge, GMT and Géographique.

That line was really something. Linked to the NAVY SEALs, which has generated a lot of discussions, as some thought that it was a military watch, while the NAVY SEALs were partners to test them " in situ ", a kind of Laboratory.

But this series of watches an interesting offer. The real true novelty was the " Alarm ", as the two others were evolutions from already existing models ( the NAVY SEALs Chronograph adding 2, 3 mm extra millimeters and a GMT function, though ).

My favorite was the Alarm, but there was also another one, coming one year after, in 2010, the NAVY SEALs Automatic, which was a novelty, too. 42 mm steel case, here. And Time Only. Which was very tempting!

So, what's your favorite?

Best,

Nicolas

Tough look with tons of quality. My favourites were the Alarm and the Automatic. I was about to buy them a few times. The Automatic with its 42 mm case was very tempting, and the look of the Alarm was unbeatable. The variety of strap options made them even more appealing. Cheers, Vte

They would have ended up resting with the rest of my "larger" watches that I have not worn in years, what a pity that would be, wouldn't it? Vte

These pictures remind me just how "cool" and beautiful - in a rugged way - the Compressor Navy Seals were. The "regular" Compressors were gorgeous, too, and you are reminding me just how "average" the Polaris line is, by comparison. There, I said it! -Dean

it makes me - even more - want JLC to re-launch an updated Compressor series. So, cool; so sexy; so different from everything else out there. Just make them all 43mm, all with 2 crowns, all with the same bracelet, all with the strap-change mechanism on the EWC and Compressor Chrono 2, and all with additional rubber strap and additional black alligator. THAT would be awesome! (I can dream, can't I?) -Dean

for a diving watch. Then a couple of years later I had the opportunity of buying the Alarm and it became the favorite of the two in spite of its bigger size. In any case I still feel the 42 mm is a more wearable timepiece. But the Alarm is so brutally beautiful!! Abrazos!! Abel
