Amanico's post delves into two unique Jaeger-LeCoultre pieces created for the Sotheby's (Red) Auction: a special edition Tribute to Deep Sea Alarm and a customized Atmos 561. This discussion highlights the aesthetic impact of subtle design changes and the broader implications of limited editions for charitable causes within the collector community, offering valuable insights into JLC's brand strategy from a decade ago.
( Red ) was founded by Bono and Bobby Shriver to engage business and people in the fight against AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
For this occasion, Sotheby's will auction two interesting pièces, made by JLC: - A Tribute To Deep Sea Alarm European with a Red alarm disc, limited to 3 pieces.
The Number one will be auctionned, while the two others are not available anymore, as they belong to Jonathan Irve and Mark Newson. So no rush, here, as the only way ot get this " Red " TT DSA is to place the winning bid.
An Atmos 561 " Mark Newson ", customized by designers Jonhatan Irve and Mark Newson, with some red accents ( hands, month indication and calibre logo ). This is a piece unique.
Before I post the press file, I would love to discuss those two pieces with you, especially the Tribute To Deep Sea Alarm " Red ".
First, the Atmos 561, customized:
I quite like these red accents, to say all. It dynamizes this transparent clock, it adds life, not bad.
Now, the Tribute To Deep Sea Alarm Red.
Are you ready?
Here we go:
You got it: The " only " detail which changes from the " normal " TT DSA European is the alarm disc, which is painted in red.
I put " " to only because this detail deeply changes the look of the Watch.
The Purists in us will scream. WHAT??? A Red Alarm disc on a holy Watch such as the Tribute To Deep Sea Alarm???
Yes, I can hear and understand you. It was my first, immediate and quick reaction, too. Yes... BUT... How cool is that, aesthetically speaking!
Somehow, it makes me think, in the spirit, of course, about a Rolex Daytona Paul Newman, an example of coolness.
What do you think?
For your complete information, the case back will receive a special engraving, well, nothing much dfferent than the one we know, but with the ( Red ) mention and the number of pièces made in this limited edition.
A last precision: These three watches have added to the 959 pièces of the TT DSA European limited edition.

The Aston Martin DB5, reference 959, is a special edition timepiece created in partnership with Breitling, serving as the official watch partner for Aston Martin and the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One™ Team. This collaboration marks Breitling's re-entry into Formula 1®, connecting the worlds of high-performance automotive engineering and precision horology. The reference is part of a broader initiative to celebrate the shared values of speed measurement and mastery between the two brands.
This particular reference is distinguished by its association with the Navitimer B01 Chronograph 43 Aston Martin Aramco Formula One™ Team, indicating a robust chronograph movement. The case is typically crafted to a substantial diameter, reflecting a contemporary sport watch aesthetic. It features a sapphire crystal for durability and clarity, protecting a dial designed to reflect the partnership's branding.
This timepiece appeals to collectors interested in automotive-themed watches and brand collaborations, particularly those with an affinity for Aston Martin's heritage and its involvement in Formula 1. It represents a specific moment in the partnership between Breitling and Aston Martin, offering a tangible link to both the luxury car manufacturer and its racing division. Variants within this collaboration often feature distinct dial treatments and case finishes.
To start on a positive note before anyone posts a negative, I personally think that the Tribute to Deep Sea European here with the red alarm disc is nicer than any of the watches recently presented in Monaco for Only Watch 2013. This will surely draw a princely sum and for an excellent cause. Dean
Well Nicolas, thanks for this news, I find it interesting. Personally I'm not someone who walked along the different TTs history and thus I can easily look at this one with a brand new vision. And I must say: it looks really really nice in this oufit. Would it come in your collection next to its siblings ? Cheers, Mark
....i wished it was 2014!
PS. Tyler... I am sorry...
Thank you Nicolas for the post. I think red works well on the Atmos. Its fresh, cool, and perhaps a little daring but in a good way. As to the Deep Sea Alarm- I think it 'breaks' the watch. I would personally be paranoid that everyone would be staring at my wrist trying to figure out what the hell I was wearing. But as my mother would say 'who the hell cares what other people think'. I think a nice yellow or orange would have worked. Not red. Best Edmond
;) It is not a Rolex, and when you wear anything else than a Rolex, everybody wonders what you are wearing. One day, a cop at the Court saw my JLC MMR and told me " Hey, what a beuatiful Swatch you have here "! ... Best, Nicolas
