One of them is a clear favorite of mine - and having both I can honestly say that this is based on pure preference as opposed to inability to source one or the other.

As much as I love the aesthetic of many vintage watches, I only tend to purchase contemporary models as I don’t want the excitement associated with establishing provenance of older pieces.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and opinions here.

Hello dear Timeout! Two great watches you share here.

I also own both and feel that though they share a white dial they have different personalities. The Daytona is an evolution of a classic and this last version with the thin steel ring enclosing the ceramic bezel is a great improvement in looks over the previous model in my personal point of view. This watch has a very imposing presence on the wrist and I’m delighted to wear it though I confess it receives little use due to the hard safety conditions in my Country. The white dial Speedy is a very

Hi Abel I was wondering if you wore you are your Daytona in Florida and if you did, did you have any reservations about that?

Hi Tony.

I can’t speak for Abel, but I didn’t wear my Daytona in Florida when I visited last year, but did wear my white dial 5711. Stayed in Ft. Lauderdale just prior to taking a week long cruise to the Eastern Caribbean and didn’t feel uncomfortable.

Hello dear Tony! Not in this trip but I had …

… worn it in some of my previous trips. I feel safe in the zones of Miami I usually visit. I usually bring only one watch to my trips abroad as most of the time I go back home with two! Lol! And a diving watch is what I usually wear in Miami. On this trip I brought a Doxa and my new ABR was waiting for me here so I return with two watches again! Lol!

Hi Abel - many thanks for your thoughtful response.

I echo everything you’ve said about the Speedy - the lacquer dial is sublime and the understated approach to the sub-registers makes the overall package even better. The Daytona is a fine watch. The more recent versions of the dial are a little too busy for my taste - the model 6263 ROC dial nailed it for me with less dial wording and solid sub-registers (as well as the case without the crown protector which I struggle with from an aesthetics perspective). I also liked the all brushed bracelets

Hello dear Tumeout. My big pleasure to share…

… my personal view with you and also to read your own thoughts. I also own a 6239 vintage Daytona which I find so charming and delicious to wear. But I confess that I’m more and more afraid that something could happen to it and it sees very little wrist time lately. But I like to wear it from time to time specially on weekend I spend at home. Cheers! Abel
