In a poignant tribute, quattro shares three watches from the collection of Captain Scarlet, a deeply cherished member of the WatchProSite community who recently passed away. This article honors Captain Scarlet's memory by showcasing the timepieces he personally selected as 'The Special One' for a Wrist Scan event, reflecting his profound passion for horology and the sentimental value these watches held.

credit to all photos: Cpt Scarlet The Omega CK2998 is a chronograph model recognized for its robust design and functional aesthetic. It belongs to a lineage of chronographs that established a distinct visual identity for the brand, characterized by a clear and legible dial layout. This reference is notable for its early adoption of a tachymeter scale on the bezel, a feature that would become a hallmark of many subsequent sports chronographs.
This reference features a 39 mm stainless steel case, housing the manual-winding Caliber 321. This movement provides a power reserve of 45 hours. The watch is fitted with a Hesalite crystal and offers a water resistance of 60 meters. The fixed tachymeter bezel is a key design element, framing a black dial.
The CK2998 holds interest for collectors seeking early examples of Omega's chronograph development. Its design elements, including the case proportions and dial configuration, represent a significant period in the brand's history. The presence of the Caliber 321 further enhances its appeal among enthusiasts of vintage chronograph movements.
I am devastated to hear the news. He was a pillar of the community and the lifeblood not only of the Wristscan forum but of WPS more generally over many years. He will be sorely missed! His generosity, kindness, knowledge and passion for things horological as well as automotive have been exemplary… What a tragic day! Wishing all the strength and all the best to his family 👍🏻🙏🏻
Even I, a relatively new member of WPS, feel what a huge loss this is for us. That's why I couldn't imagine posting anything other than a tribute to him today. And of course, I am thinking of his family and friends with the greatest sympathy. Best, Emmanuel
(Prestige de le France, 5905/1A, 5168G, Roger Dubuis Much More, Daytona, Speedy Moonshine, etc.). That is why I preferred to stick to the three that he himself chose as the jewels of his collection.
Thank you so many memories with the fabulous man that chose to spend 42 years with me đź’”
Please accept my warmest condolences. I truly hope that the memories of all the moments you shared with him, which remain indestructible despite his passing, will bring you some comfort in this painful time of grief. With all my heart, I am with you. And everyone here is with you too. Best, Emmanuel
He’s left a big whole
