In a poignant tribute, quattro shares three watches from the collection of Captain Scarlet, a deeply cherished member of the WatchProSite community who recently passed away. This article honors Captain Scarlet's memory by showcasing the timepieces he personally selected as 'The Special One' for a Wrist Scan event, reflecting his profound passion for horology and the sentimental value these watches held.

We have just lost a key and very dear member of our community. What a sad and painful loss!

To honor his memory, here are the three watches from his collection that he himself selected for the Wrist Scan edition of July 2024 dedicated to "The Special One."

Three watches that were infinitely dear to his heart, which now rests in peace.

Our deepest sympathy and thoughts of support are with his family and friends.

Best, Emmanuel

“The Special One”

The Patek Philippe Nautilus ref. 5980/1A-001, about which he wrote:

“My first watch is the mighty Nautilus Chronograph… It won’t be leaving my collection… A design classic… I still admire and appreciate it every time I look at it…”

“Special Mission”

An Omega Speedmaster about which he wrote:

“My second watch for this weekend is the ledgendary Omega Speedmaster.

This Speedmaster is a special one for me as it took me many years to find it. It’s from 1967 with the rare case produced by Centrale Boîtes and is the same reference that went to the moon on the wrist of Neil Armstrong.”

Watch, CK 2998, 105.012, Speedmaster, Speedmaster Professional, Omega

“The One”

A vintage Patek Philippe (which I believe to be a ref. 2434) and about which he wrote:

“My final choice is the first Patek Philippe watch that I owned and started my passion for the legendary watch maker.

It’s also the watch that I wore on my wedding day and will always be with me on my wrist and in my heart…”

This is incredibly sad 😢

I am devastated to hear the news. He was a pillar of the community and the lifeblood not only of the Wristscan forum but of WPS more generally over many years. He will be sorely missed! His generosity, kindness, knowledge and passion for things horological as well as automotive have been exemplary… What a tragic day! Wishing all the strength and all the best to his family 👍🏻🙏🏻

Yes, it's terribly sad.

Even I, a relatively new member of WPS, feel what a huge loss this is for us. That's why I couldn't imagine posting anything other than a tribute to him today. And of course, I am thinking of his family and friends with the greatest sympathy. Best, Emmanuel

And many others

(Prestige de le France, 5905/1A, 5168G, Roger Dubuis Much More, Daytona, Speedy Moonshine, etc.). That is why I preferred to stick to the three that he himself chose as the jewels of his collection.
