...in full size on my computer, there is no moire in the original image -- but when I downsized the image to 1500x1000 for uploading, the grooves in the dial must have been just the right size relative to the pixel grid (along with the lighting from the side) to create the moire effect. So, the issue is not in the camera (despite the absence of an AA filter in the D800E, I really haven't had moire issues -- more often fringing and CA that I attribute to using a polarizer at severe angles) but is

Am running out of superlatives ! Its quite ironic, but sometimes I fear the resolving power of these new sensors. Leaves nothing to the imagination ! And Good thing u cleaned the watch real well !
