Gary G shares his initial impressions and exclusive photos of his custom Grönefeld One Hertz, featuring a titanium case paired with a striking blue dial typically reserved for the platinum version. This post offers a first look at a unique configuration of a highly regarded independent timepiece, with Gary G promising a more comprehensive review and wearing impressions to follow.

Greetings to all! Timely that Don has just posted his excellent review of the Grönefelds' watches from Basel this year, as I have just returned from a very brief trip to the Netherlands to visit the "Boys" and now have something new to show. I'm pleased to report that Bart and Tim were kind enough to make me a bit of a custom job -- the excellent Titanium case One Hertz, but with the gorgeous blue dial usually reserved for the PT version.

A full "road trip" report to follow, as well as posts with more photos and my usual "wearing impressions" report after I've gotten some wrist time in. For now, please accept the following couple of images, taken on the desktop of my hotel room without benefit of tripod, tent, or lights -- and with the 105 2.8 Macro rather than my usual 85mm PC-E.

Enough poor-mouthing! Hope you enjoy these, and that they hold everyone over until I can get home and find some time to do a better job of it:

Best,

Gary G

...in full size on my computer, there is no moire in the original image -- but when I downsized the image to 1500x1000 for uploading, the grooves in the dial must have been just the right size relative to the pixel grid (along with the lighting from the side) to create the moire effect. So, the issue is not in the camera (despite the absence of an AA filter in the D800E, I really haven't had moire issues -- more often fringing and CA that I attribute to using a polarizer at severe angles) but is

You can click through to see the original, which at least on my computer is a lot closer to what I see in the original -- and a lot better than the crushed version that you can see on the upload to the PuristS server: I have sent a message to the Support group here asking about the aspect ratio distortion on Flickr links and will hope to have news on that fai

Am running out of superlatives ! Its quite ironic, but sometimes I fear the resolving power of these new sensors. Leaves nothing to the imagination ! And Good thing u cleaned the watch real well !

Your photos not longer look distorted. Spot on aspect ratio !
