Hello PuristS,

Seiko has recently released a couple videos that illustrate the entire Grand Seiko watch-creating process, all the way from making hairsprings and mainsprings (and growing quartz crystals!) to placing the watch in its box. Can you take 10 minutes and watch the videos? I guarantee it will be worth your time.

(If you are on a large screen, go over to YouTube and choose full-screen display)

It is certainly fun to visit Japan, and I was privileged to tour these two facilities that are featured in the video. But you can see (most of it) here, without the expense and jet lag. The films show how they are dedicated to making -- well, I will let Seiko say in their own words what they are doing:

Cheers,

Cazalea

The way SEIKO make and present their videos is somewhat different from the Swiss brands, although I can't exactly point out which and what gave me this feeling.

.. how serious its watchmakers are making watches. I am not sure how many other brands are doing at the same level of "perfection". Utterly wonderful and super. Must see videos for all the SEIKO fans and not-so-SEIKO fans as well. Ken

This is exactly what GS needs. They just need to spread and be seen by many, many more people

Thank you very much for having recommended these impressive videos, I'm sincerely in awe! Unfortunately, most of the watches of the huge Seiko-family are aesthetically not my taste but, thanks to PuristSPro, I've learned to appreciate the way they pursue perfection. And these videos definitely demonstrate where Seiko is absolutely "the best": having been successful in the industrialization of pure handcrafting. It may sound a contradiction, except in this case, in my opinion. Don't you? A questi

Quite why, where, which models is hard to predict for an outsider... Try finding some live, though - the pictures are good but they are even better in reality
