The first Grand Seiko Boutique in continental Europe and the largest Grand Seiko Boutique in the world is now open. It offers the widest and latest Grand Seiko collection outside Japan, including several creations that are exclusive to the boutique. The interior has been designed by the celebrated Japanese architect Kengo Kuma; it opens a fascinating window into traditional Japanese culture, with its Sumushiko bamboo screen, its Tatami floors and Washi wallpaper. Située à l’ouest de la place, au sein d’un monument historique, Grand Seiko dévoile une boutique de plus de 190 m² sur deux étages imaginée par le grand architecte japonais Kengo Kuma qui développe ici son intention : « J’ai voulu créer une boutique où l'on puisse ressentir la sensibilité et la culture japonaise dans laquelle la nature a une place si importante. Donc, je me suis d'abord concentré sur les matériaux utilisés qui montrent l'attention ultime que l'artisanat accorde aux détails. »
Grand Seiko propose au rez-de-chaussée des pièces iconiques et exclusives. Au premier étage, un espace de vente avec vue sur la place Vendôme est mis à l’honneur.
A case made by Kengo Kuma

Matériaux traditionnels
La décoration intérieure exprime l’univers de la marque Grand Seiko, ancrée dans la culture japonaise : “La Nature du Temps”.
Kengo Kuma s’est inspiré de cette tradition pour la réinventer et la réinterpréter de manière contemporaine. Très attentif aux matériaux, à la transparence, à l’espace et à la lumière, tous les éléments traditionnels japonais ont été intégrés dans la décoration : cloisons recouvertes de bambou appelées sumushiko ; shôji, parois constituées de papier washi et tatamis, mais on retrouve également des matériaux plus contemporains par le choix de la pierre de Vals pour le rez-de-chaussée et du chêne pour le sol du premier étage.
Traditional materials

Kengo Kuma was inspired by this tradition to reinvent and reinterpret it in a contemporary way.
