Speedie74 aka Mr. Torquise shares his immediate admiration for the Girard-Perregaux WW.TC Ref. 49865 after encountering it at an Authorized Dealer, sparking a lively discussion among fellow collectors. He compares it to the new, more puristic WW.TC model and seeks expert opinions on this discontinued reference.

Team, Folks, Mates!

I would like to admit to you, that I have just seen this GP watch in the real at my favourite AD, and was immediately falled in love with her:

Yes, yes, yes, it is the same watch - at least I think! - as Tony's watch introduced here, but I have seen it real first, and then I have seen Tony's thread here. So the inspiration comes solely from the watch!

I must also confess to you, that this is the second GP watch, what pulls the trigger on me to buy a GP, of course the first one is the one and lovely Lauerato Heritage, which I can also try on:

It is huge, impressive, but the similarities between my AP real Anniversary watch is too obvious for me:

Back to this very particular world timer model from GP:
The AD told me that this Ref. ( 49865 ) is already discontinued, but if it is right, it wasn't too long time ago at all, because I could still find the watch in my 2015 watchcatalouge!

As I understand well after my researches, the new version has a bigger diameter ( 43 mm instead of 41 mm ) and this one is very PURISTIC: the watch has only a little second, no date, no chronograph, no power reserve indicator.

Here you can see how she sits on my wrist:

I am eager about your opinion, what do the experts ( CC, Blomman ) says about this reference? It is brand new, and I am not sure, that I will find one more NIB, from AD.

Yours,

Adam

Ref 49865 will become a true classic and we already have a few here in the forum. The 41mm case with the silver dial is my favourite version as well. If I didn't already have the Chronograph, this would be very high on my list, in fact, I'm thinking of adding it in addition to the Chronograph. So, go for it, before they are gone. Some data: the with Chronograph is 43mm the with small seconds is 41mm, there are a few more versions: with small seconds and PR (41mm) with perpetual calendar (41mm)
