blomman Mr Blue takes us on a 'Throwback Thursday' journey to 1994, showcasing a Girard-Perregaux Vintage 94 advertisement. This post delves into the elegant and complex case design of the Vintage 94, revealing its subtle curves despite an initial rectangular appearance. Readers will appreciate the historical context of re-editions and the enduring appeal of this unique Girard-Perregaux reference.
This ad from 1994 really shows the elegance and complexity of the Girard-Perregaux Vintage 94 case!
Up front, this watch looks rectangular…
But if you look closer, you realize there are not many straight lines to find here.
Another detail in this ad:
“Re-edition of a model created in 1948 of which only 203 pieces will be available in the US market.”
The “Re-edition game” has been played from quite some time already.
Nothing new that brands only did these last couple of years!
Limited Edition of 203 pieces, that we already knew.
But, only available in the US market?
Have not been able to verify this, but if so, that may explain why we don’t see many of these here in Europe.
On the other hand, even 203 pieces worldwide would not make this one pop up that often either…

I bought mine as NOS from a former Italian AD who said that it was in stock with him since the mid 90s. And perhaps if you take apart the grammar of the marketing speech, the "only" could well be only (hehe) applied to the "203" and not to the "US Market". Anyhow, great Ad and superb watch. I will come back to the 90s manual wind square watches in a while now that I have found my Vintage 45, Ref 2595. CC

But also the raising wonderful. What does the back look like?
Looking forward to see more of your new catch! Best Blomman
Ironically, it's kind of flat! But due to size that doesn't matter for comfort, sits very well on the wrist! Best Blomman
Vintage 94, Vintage 1945! Best Blomman
