Friends,
The only thing I have in my mind right now is that I want to travel…
To get out in the sun and go, fly and see new places, experience new things…
So, I will keep the started theme for this week – Summer time, Travel time, Travel watches!
Here is another shot of the Traveller Large Date, Moon Phases & GMT, John Harrison Edition:
Would love to go abroad with this watch on my wrist!
Hope you will get to pack your bags soon.

The Girard-Perregaux Vintage 1945 line, introduced in 1994, draws inspiration from historical models, specifically a 1945 Art Deco piece. This collection is characterized by its rectangular or tonneau-shaped cases and a design language that evokes mid-20th century aesthetics. The Vintage 1945 series quickly became a cornerstone of Girard-Perregaux's offerings in the 1990s, reinterpreting classic forms with contemporary watchmaking standards. It represents a significant period for the brand in re-establishing its heritage-inspired collections.
Early models in the Vintage 1945 series typically featured stainless steel cases, though gold variants were also produced. The case dimensions varied depending on the specific model, often presenting a balanced profile suitable for dress wear. These watches were frequently equipped with automatic movements, showcasing Girard-Perregaux's in-house capabilities or finely finished outsourced calibers. The crystal was commonly sapphire, ensuring durability and legibility, while water resistance was generally suitable for daily wear rather than aquatic activities.
For collectors, the Vintage 1945 series appeals to those interested in neo-vintage watches that successfully blend historical design with modern execution. The 1994 introduction year marks it as one of the earlier and more influential lines from Girard-Perregaux's resurgence in the 1990s. Its various iterations, including time-only, small seconds, and later complicated versions, offer a range of choices for enthusiasts seeking a distinctive rectangular watch with a clear lineage.
even better than the pink gold/black dial. My only complaint, I would not think of a large pink gold case watch as a perfect travel watch, too showy and inviting for dings and scratches. CC
Well, this is maybe not the watch I would choose for climbing a mountain or go scuba diving... But for a nice cityscape....! :) Best Blomman
for sure, perhaps in the evening on a culural event or in a museum...perfect. I was worried about the hassle of actual travel, handling luggage, airplanes or the like, in general being stressed and distracted (especially if you travel with small children), but you're right, there is nothing stopping one to wear a robust watch during the travels and bring this beauty for on location events ;)
Yet, I also would be quite reluctant to actually travel with this beauty. But thx to our common friend, it is a beautiful timepiece, maybe a bit too beautiful.. BTW, my dear friend, you are about to hit the 1k mark here : - Sincere Congratulations & ad many more to follow !! Congrats, CC.. And pls keep them coming ! Best, hs
Vintage watches are often much more fragile than this one! You should not worry too much... Enjoy your trip! ;) Best Blomman
Looking forward to read CC's next post! Well spotted, HS! :) Best Blomman
