amanico revisits a memorable trip to the Girard-Perregaux Manufacture in La Chaux-de-Fonds, sharing 'postcards' from Switzerland that capture the essence of the journey. This photo report offers a glimpse into the brand's heritage and the picturesque setting where its timepieces are crafted, providing context for the passion behind GP watches.

It was exactly one year ago...

Our last trip to the GP Manufacture, with Blomman, gave us the opportunity to engrave some great moments in the hard disc of our memory. Moments of pure delight, horology, friendship, and aesthetics.

Till then I never went to Neuchâtel. A town I will have to visit, as it really looks magnificient, and full of charm.

Our Headquarter for one ( very short ) night, the well called Beau Rivage:

The lake side was Worth an early walk, and the view is sublime:

As we were not there for a fishing game, it was time to take the car, and to go to " La Tcho ", which is the affectuous nickname given to La Chaux De Fonds, where the GP Manufacture is located.

But before arriving there, a magic surprise, the Snowy heights:

La Chaux De Fonds, Girard Perregaux... The heart beats faster, since this is a place I wanted to visit for 15 years!

We didn't have time for tourism, but we had a quick walk in the Streets:

1, Girardet Place, this is a  magic address for the GP Fans.

Here comes the dizziness. Stars, stairs, and stairs again...

Gold cases, again, and again...

Finished movements: Perlages, Cotes De Genève, a fine watchmaking classic:

A funny parallel between the modern ambiance of a Manufacture:

And the ambiance from the past... Not necessarily the same Tools, even if sometimes, the method is the same ( polishing a tourbillon bridge with a piece of wood, for days and days, without any machine assistancen is something which still exists! )

Don't repeat it, but the GP watchmakers told me that the secret of their Genius lies in two things...

Candies:

And Humour:

I tend to trust them.

A quick lunch at the last floor of the Blue Building, allowing us to have a view from the heights to the heights...

I wouldn't conclude this photo report without:

- A wristshot. One of the best I took, certainly, in Neuchâtel, early in the morning, on the lake side:

- Giving some warm thanks to Xavier, our friendly contact, and the whole GP Team.

I am just dreaming about coming back there!

All the best,

Nicolas

I have some of the same but also different memories of PuristS visit to Girard-Perregaux... This has nothing to do with the factory but the photo was in my G-P Factory folder.....? Maybe it was a promotional event reported on our G-P forum The Blue G-P Building The Pillar that holds up the G-P empire Early CNC machine Ferrari at G-P factory The Villa that was to be the G-P Museum G-P Pocket Watch from an era when real watchmaking was done. Regards, MTF
