Crown comfort introduces his latest acquisition, the Girard-Perregaux Laureato Evo3 Large Date Moonphase Ref. 80185 with a white dial. He shares his journey of hunting for this specific model and his initial impressions, particularly highlighting the dial's aesthetic and the bracelet's comfort and fit.
Friends,
Time for a proper introduction of my latest addition, the Girard-Perregaux Laureato Evo3 Large Date Moonphase with white dial.
First of all, let me thank a very kind member here who helped me source this watch and who provided me with good guidance and support!
While Iām totally smitten by this Laureato, this is only going to be a brief introduction while I want to have a bit longer ownership before provided an in-depth review.
In fact, I have been hunting this model for a few years and in particular was looking at the grey dial version. The ones that came up for sale always had been kind of wrong time, wrong place.
When on a recent visit to the manufacture I was able to try on the white dial version, I immediately knew that I was wrong. The grey is great, but the white is the one for me!
The integration of the large date has been done perfectly on the white dial with the red numbers on white background and the silver polished applied indexes and power reserve and moonphase work better on the white dial as they do not stand out so much but still provide a great light play.
Another big and positive surprise is the bracelet of the Evo3. Very similar to the bracelet of the current production Laureato, but in my view with a better buckle mechanism.
It was also the first bracelet that just fits, never had any desire to adjust with half a link or so.
Right now, it is getting a lot of wrist time and I have to say quite rightly so. Ideal for summer with the bracelet and the light look of the white dial.
Best,
CC
The Girard-Perregaux Laureato Evo3 reference 80185 is a notable iteration within the Laureato collection, distinguished by its comprehensive display of complications. This particular reference integrates a large date, moon phase, and power reserve indicator, presenting a more complex and information-rich dial compared to simpler Laureato models. It represents a period in the Laureato's evolution where the design embraced increased functionality while maintaining the collection's established aesthetic.
This Laureato Evo3 features a case typically crafted from stainless steel, housing an automatic movement. The large date mechanism is engineered for an instant switch, a technical detail that highlights Girard-Perregaux's horological capabilities. The watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal, ensuring durability and clear visibility of the dial. The case diameter is 44mm, providing a substantial presence on the wrist, and it offers a power reserve of approximately 46 hours.
Released in the early 2010s, the reference 80185 was available with dial options including white, black, or grey. The white dial variant is often cited for its seamless integration of the large date display, where the white background of the date discs complements the dial color. This reference appeals to collectors seeking a Laureato with advanced complications and a robust, contemporary design.
