In 1969 Girard-Perregaux asked the following - “Ever heard of a talking watch?” And the obvious reply that year was – “Neither have we.” This ad was printed in 1969. I found it several years ago. Of course my interest for this watch was ignited! Earlier this year I added it to my small GP collection

This ad was
printed in 1969. I found it several years ago. Of course my interest for this
watch was ignited!
Earlier this year I added it to my small GP collection through help of friends. This made me return to this ad and re-read it.
A few observations:
Girard Perregaux is written without the “-“ dash between.
All the functions that are listed here, in 1969 there were no apps to remind you or tell you things. Now 45 years later every kid will tell you that “Hey, my phone can do all that and more…”
They don’t
even call it “mobile telephone” or “mobile phone”, just “phone”
Price range, watches available from USD 59.50 to over USD 5 000. In 1969 a watch over USD 5000 must have been considered as a very expensive watch!
My last
observation is that – don’t bother to write to the address in the bottom. I
did, several years ago and I still haven’t received my free folder…
Even if this watch doesn’t “talk”… It “SINGS” to me, which is more important!

I'm sure it was quite a search but that's part of the passion. Talking watch? Well, much prefer that over "talking elevators"..."Doors closing....Going-up....Third Floor....Doors opening..." ahhhhhhhh CC
Talking watches or elevators... Imagin having a watch that tells you - "You are now ten minutes late to your next apointment"... Very stressful! ;) Thank you, CC! Best Blomman
It won't end up in my watch box! It's as simple as that... ;) Best Blomman
.. the more I get to see these variances of Vintage GP tic-tacs, the more I like those ! Have the feeling, these GP watches do not shout to you, but they sing a very special song, to exercise a special spell ! It's only a pity, that in my city, I encountered a single Vintage GP , but meanwhile I've started looking for some, just to explore in the real Thank you for that nice share, A really nice sample again ! best, hs
....great story and yet another great discovery! Watching this story evolve is masterful
Same problem here, my friend. Next time I will bring some for you to have a closer look at! :) Best Blomman
