Friends,
Not long ago I had the chance to take some live shots of the GP 1966 Lady, Diamond settings and MOP dial, reference 49528.
This very classic looking ladies watch has the right amount of “bling” to go under the radar as an everyday watch.
But if you look just a little bit closer you will see that the “bling” is there!
Classic 1966, 30 mm, white gold case. Love the warmer tone in the white gold. The typical GP lugs are there, quite short and curved, makes the watch sit very well on the wrist.
OK, more “bling”: Eight diamonds mounted on a dial made of white Mother of Pearl.
You see the “bling-factor”?
So, this is the perfect watch for a lady that only wants one watch.
You might wonder why I emphasize the “one watch” approach. The reason is that when discussing watches with women the most common argument I hear is that they want only one watch. But I suspect that secretly they are the same as we are, the more the merrier!
With the GP 1966 on here wrist, Monday to Friday, business or casual, anything goes…
But on Saturday, all she has to do is change her outfit, keep the watch, and she is ready for any party!
The applied index XII and VI adds a bit more substance to the dial, I think it’s is a good thing that GP didn’t go for full Roman numbers around the dial. Due to the size, the dial would have a bit too busy for my taste.
This way I think the dial has a very well balanced look.
The by now classic leaf hands also in white gold and makes good contrast to the white MOP, which makes the time easy to read.
8 mm thick case gives the watch a bit of volume, not as much as we see on some of the fashion watches these days, but in good proportions to the diameter of the watch.
Inside is the automatic GP 3200 movement. 28800 vph, 26 Jewels, 42 hours power reserve.
To my surprise, the movement is too big for the opening in the case back!
I never thought I would say that the movement is too big, but here the pink gold rotor almost disappears under the edge of the case. Would it be possible to make the opening a bit bigger?
Personally I would prefer to see a bit more of the rotor here.
Water resistant down to 30 meters helps the “everyday” watch approach. This watch is possible to wear in everyday life. I think this one much easier for that than the Cat’s Eye, which is more “provocative” in shape and design.
I will spear you a wrist shot of this one on my wrist!
Instead I will take assistance of the very kind and helpful representative from my local AD where I had the chance to see this one in the metal. Thank you!
What do you think? Maybe something for next Valentine’s Day…?!
Best
