Journe 'two hearts beating as one' serves as a poignant example, prompting a community-wide reflection on the deeper connections collectors form with their timepieces. This article explores the diverse emotional and aesthetic attachments members have to their watches.

The Chronomètre à Résonance represents François-Paul Journe's most ambitious horological statement, introduced in 2000 as part of his foundational Souveraine collection. This timepiece brings the 18th-century resonance theories of Antide Janvier and Abraham-Louis Breguet into the modern era, making Journe the first contemporary watchmaker to successfully implement dual escapement resonance in a wristwatch format. The watch established F.P. Journe's reputation as a master of complex mechanical solutions.
The technical achievement centers on two independent movements housed within a single case, each with its own going train, escapement, and balance wheel. When both movements are wound and running, the proximity of the oscillating balance wheels creates a resonance phenomenon where they naturally synchronize, theoretically improving chronometric performance. The distinctive dual-dial layout, with its railway track minute indices and Arabic numerals, has become synonymous with F.P. Journe's design language. The power reserve indicator at 12 o'clock monitors both movements simultaneously.
As one of F.P. Journe's most technically significant pieces, the Résonance occupies a unique position in the contemporary collecting landscape. Early platinum examples from the 2000s represent the purest expression of Journe's vision, before later iterations in rose gold broadened accessibility. The complexity of manufacturing and the niche appeal of resonance timing keeps production numbers naturally limited, contributing to strong secondary market performance among collectors who appreciate fundamental horological innovation over conventional complications.
Wishing you and the rest of the gang here a nice weekend 🍻
Love the RG dial. Have a great weekend my friend 🤗
Did you get that one from Shawn? It looks familiar 🤣 I’m traveling with this one right now.
This one is not from Shawn. The strap is from Jean Rousseau. Beautiful red calf - did you get your strap yours from Shawn? The Elegante is perfect for traveling. I use mine for that as well. So easy. Have a great trip and a great weekend.
Yes - this strap was from Shawn. I love the burgundy color which pics up the color of the chaton in the differential cut out. It came as the shipping strap for the watch. Watching the elegante hands move first thing in the morning never gets old🤣
In a couple of ways. 😉 hehe I agree about waking up the Elegante. It’s always fun and my kids always want to do it
