What an amazing journey it has been so far. From my first post about a Rolex I got in Las Vegas, to the most recent post of Max, my four-legger, doing his best Nicolas Hayek impression by sporting six JLC’s on one, er, leg – needless to say it has been a fantastic ride.  And it continues to get better and better.

Over the last five years, I have met some of the world’s finest people.  Whether it be the “Alphabet Soup Gang’s” sorta’ quarterly GTG at an undisclosed location, the semi-annual Purists gathering at some Beverly Hills watch boutique,  or even the rare one-on-one sit down with our very own, over-the-top Jaeger LeCoultre junkie (you know who you are) , our common passion never fails to bring out the best in all of us.

As I post number one-thousand, I find myself reflecting on my own watch collecting passion.  Eight years ago I had only collected Rolex watches and one day I finally woke the hell up and purchased something different: A Panerai.  A few years later my brother turned me onto PuristPro.com and my mind was opened to a whole world of timepieces I never considered or even knew existed.  And so, my education began.

Thanks to everyone that has fostered me through this journey.  Tim, with your inviting spirit you have showed me the way of the Independents; the last true artisans of this centuries old craft.  Art, your passion for Omega inspired me to purchase the 15k Gauss I so treasure.  Mitch, your grace, immense heart and strong desire to share the amazing examples of pure watch making that make up your collection is nothing short of astounding.  And Nicolas… my dear Amanico… Vladmir… Thank you for continuing to educate us all on what is probably the world’s finest brand.  I have deeply fallen for Jaeger LeCoultre and as you know, I am always on the hunt for the next grail.  Finally, Bill, thanks for building a site that allows for an inspiring and insightful conversation about something we collectively feel very passionate about.

I have a huge amount of gratitude for the great friends I have made through this website.  This week I travel to Paris to spend time with like-minded people who share our common passion.  All the very best to all of my Purist Pals.  Looking forward to my next thousand posts!  See you at the Basel Fair.
