Deguiret & Ématelier Enamel Dial Artistry

We explore two darlings of the Art Dial World, Ematelier from Canada vs. Deguiret a Joint French/Georgian team. Both take very different and in parts a similar approach to creating bespoke pieces of Art for your Wrist.

Deguiret is an independent watchmaking house that specializes in handcrafted cloisonné enamel timepieces. Founded in 2021 by Lucas Roillet, the brand is notable for blending traditional Georgian artistry (specifically minankari enamel) with Swiss precision.

They Started with a 40mm case powered the Peseux 7001 hand-wound movement (42 hours of power reserve).





For their 37mm case, 8.6 mm thickness, 41.42 mm lug-to-lug, 20 mm lug width, with a sapphire caseback they use a 30mm La Joux-Perret manufacture movement.





The movement is manual winding, double barrel, 90-hour power reserve, 21 jewels, 21,600 A/h, Côtes de Genève finishing and flamed blue screws.

Their technique is to combine cloisonné enamel (for structure and composition) with champlevé engraving (to carve depth directly into the dial base).





After the drawing and the shaping of the gold cloisons, they start the first layers of Grand Feu enamel application. Each shade is carefully placed by hand with a fine brush, inside the tiny gold compartments of the dial.

Ématelier is a Toronto-based watch brand founded by Alex Landa, dedicated to creating timepieces featuring rare, traditional Grand Feu (Great Fire) enamel dials. Launched in 2017, the company aims to make high-end, hand-painted, and cloisonné enamel dials.





Ématelier uses a customized Automatic Soprod with a 42-hour power reserve running at 28’800 vibrations per hour which is Adjusted to five positions.

They offer Bespoke dials using enameling, Grand Feu miniature painting, Cloisonné, and Champleve.





















This dial features a fragment of Eugène Delacoix’s The Combat of the Giaour and Hassan, Grand Feu miniature painting embellished with gold foils. Multiple firings on a gold plate. Geneva Technique, mirror polished.





Gustav Klimt's gorgeous "The Kiss" showcased on this dial in a combination of two techniques, Grand Feu cloisonné, and Miniature Painting. This process allows for replication of many details such as the face and hands on a cloisonné dial with great accuracy. Gold plate, Gold wire. 15 firings. Èmatelier watch, diamond bezel, 74 excellent cut diamonds, 1Cts.
