We are out early again -- to avoid the crowds of aggressive exercise walkers and to catch the sunrise over the harbor. We are near the southwestern-most corner of the US.

It's very quiet, still, and peaceful. I could almost have a nap on the bench, but no, we are here to walk about

"Lamb's Ear" my wife says, with conviction.

I'm immediately transported back in time and space to an afternoon walk in England, where she faced off with a some sheep in an English churchyard.

But the spell breaks and we continue our walk along the water.

We see a flock of "birds of paradise" who are much quieter than the noisy gulls that have begun to circle the cove.

Perhaps this tiny fisherman has lost some of his catch to the birds ...

We walked through the Southwestern Yacht Club. We'd never strolled through here before, although we've been to the San Diego Yacht Club many times.

I actually forgot to put my big camera in the car today, so this escaping heron can only be seen at a distance.

The sun cracks through the clouds for about 90 seconds, then gives up and fades again.

We've walked a quarter mile back along the beach before the sun shows again.

Which photo do you prefer? Above 1 or below 2. Please let me know.

Passing under a huge Torrey Pine, I happen to look up and see this heron perched above us. I didn't know they perched in trees - I wonder if it's common?

Back to the car, back to the house, breakfast!

Just a note about the watch - this is a very early hand-wound Spring Drive in Credor clothing. The 7R88A2 movement looks like this:

Love I love the photos. Some of them are really “breathing” the atmosphere you’ve described. Photos march the words Double love it But I loved the story you were telling even more. It has something poetic something romantic. With a nice twitch at the end by just the word “breakfast” Triple love it: Photos and story are drenched with the love between you and your wife. Perfecto

Picture 2 is my choice out of the photos you've asked about. I like the little bit of foreground along with the ducks. Also the greater exposure brightens up the scenery and it seems more lively.

Southwestern Sunrise, the Video! Especially for those who liked the duck sunrise best. Mike

I'm glad you like the pictures, and thanks for the kind words about my wife. Our recent 45 year anniversary (under lockdown; t'was the best I could do for her)

It would be a pleasure to spend the morning there.

I have no idea where the ducks go on our holidays
