Mkt33's "Live from Vegas" report captures the essence of Chopard's educational presentation at IGOTT2, showcasing the brand's commitment to in-house movement manufacture. The article features a unique display of Chopard's raw movements and highlights the exquisite L.U.C XP watches with Urushi dials, offering readers a behind-the-scenes look at Chopard's horological depth beyond its jewelry reputation.

Chopard’s “educational” presentation was this afternoon

This display highlighting all of Chopard’s movement was shipped from Switzerland especially for IGOTT2

The transparent case allowed everyone in attendance to inspect the raw movements from the front AND back!

Some beautiful Chopard LUC XP watches with Urushi dials by the top Urushi Master, Mr. Kiichiro Masumura and then applied gold maki-e by Yamada Heiando

You may recall that Mr. Karl-Friedrich Scheufele (KFS) and Chopard were awarded PuristSPro’s Purity Prize in 2009.

If there were any doubts in my mind, today’s presentation validates why they deserved the prize

KFS gives a brief history of Chopard and their vision of being a manufacture

Patrick Wehrli reviews PuristS' favorite collection:  The L.U.C.

At this point KFS started fielding some questions from the audience.  I was impressed with the breadth of his knowledge… he could answer even the most technical questions by himself.  Not many watch brand presidents can do this.

PuristS were treated to a few surprises.

1:  A new high frequency escapement (8hz) is being developed which can be retrofitted to existing LUC watches.  It uses silicon components.

2: There will be a watch dedicated to PuristSPro !

The movement selected is a brand new caliber not yet available to the public and designed with PuristS in mind.  It is an integrated manually wound chronograph.

All I can say is watch this space for updates in the near future.

Because KFS is a true racing fan and this is the FIRST time that he has met directly with US collectors, Team Chopard decided to make this evening special by selecting the perfect venue.

Chopard hosted cocktails and dinner at the Ferrrari / Maserati dealership

An irresistible mix of cars and watches preoccupied us prior to seating down for our evening meal

Dinner itself was being held in the Ferrari museum

On our way we were reminded that expensive cars, just like watches, can break down and require servicing.  I was surprised to hear that servicing an exotic sports car often costs less than servicing a fine swiss watch

We even got a chance to sit and pose for a picture in a Ferrari

The dinner menu.  I’ll refrain from posting any food pictures but the entire meal was delicious

Glickman and Creighton was seated to my left.  Glickman was wearing the following

MichaelC wore this on my right

The best part of dinner was finding out that Creighton and Michael both lived near each other in Colorado but they didn't know each other!  This is the power of IGOTT

The evening concluded with dessert and some more post dinner conversation.

I hope you enjoyed today’s reporting

Tomorrow will be Day 3: Montblanc and independent watchmaking

Best, Mike

.. as with many others, LUC is my favorite movement and the new chrono one is VERY intriguing. Can't wait for the debut of the watch! And, again, thank you for the detailed report, Mike. I could read the presentation and felt as if I were in the audience. Many thanks! Ken

A fantastic and memorable evening that truly shows Chopard and Monsieur Scheufele's personal friendship and mentality that supports the PuristS. Many thanks to Chopard, Monsieur Scheufele, and PuristSPro for this amazing and memorable dinner!
