MTF introduces the Chopard Imperiale Lavender Jade watch, a special edition released for Lunar New Year 2016. This post delves into the aesthetic and cultural significance of the timepiece, highlighting the rarity of lavender jade and its integration into Chopard's Imperiale collection. It provides valuable context on how luxury brands cater to specific cultural celebrations with unique materials and designs.
Forumners,
Another Chopard watch (Imperiale Lavendar Jade 33mm) is announced for Lunar New Year or 'Chinese New Year' 2016. I prefer the term lunar new year because many other East Asian cultures adopt the same calendar. Recently, we read about the Chopard L.U.C XP Year of the Monkey urushi Japanese lacquer dial watch for Lunar New Year. CLICK following URL link to read about the technique and aesthetic:
Although that lacquer dial watch is wearable by both gender, have a look at today's announcement of an Imperiale Lavender Jade watch that may be more ornate for Lunar New Year 2016. I'm making the assumption that its more feminine although, in theory, it could pass muster for elegant men who like jade and diamonds. It is a tad small by today's standards, being only 36mm in diameter but it has a mechanical automatic winding movement inside. The Imperiale 36mm jade watches are classics in the Chopard line as we featured a green jade version some years before. Of course, everyone is familiar with the fascination for green and creamy white jade (nephrite) in East Asia but perhaps it is less well known that lavender or purple jade (jadeite) is rarer and also highly prized.
Chopard Imperiale Lavender Jade 33mm
The Imperiale watches today express the codes of contemporary elegance that echo the grandeur of the Roman Empire. Originally, launched in 1994 and entirely redesigned in 2010, the Imperiale is renown for its harmonious proportions and refined details. The symbology is there: Roman columns, gladius-shaped sword hands, and Roman numerals endowing a powerful and symbolic character for women of all-conquering spirit.
This new model sees the appearance of a vivid lavender colour jade of exceptional quality. The colour and radiance of lavender jade complement other Imperiale jewellery pieces that are adorned with amethysts. A crown delicately curved like a lotus flower and set with diamonds is fitted and the pure, sleek sides of the case were designed to give the watch a lighter touch and more luminous glow. The shape of the lugs echoes the tradition of ancient columns that are famed for their perfectly balanced proportions.
The sheer wealth and finesse of its details make the Imperiale collection an eminently feminine model, and its timeless chic revives the spirit and the splendour of imperial classicism.
