Nicolas (amanico) revisits the Cartier Roadster, a timepiece now over two decades old, prompting a community reflection on its distinctive design and enduring appeal. His original post serves as a catalyst for collectors to share their perspectives on a model that, despite its relatively short production run, left a significant mark on Cartier's modern history. This article explores the unique elements that define the Roadster and its place in the brand's legacy.

I was looking at them recently, a bit quirky but despite the date I kind of like them!
But it’s one that didn’t last particularly long. Not sure if it was poor sales or just didn’t fit into the strategy 🤷🏻♂️
Never pulled the trigger though!
I find it interesting that people are turned off by the date crystal "cyclops" and the shape of it, because the way it's integrated into the design and the case, is part of what makes the watch so unique. I'm not one that is a fan of a cyclops especially on a Rolex but I found this pretty cool on this watch the way the cyclops and the case are one smooth piece. There were some later versions with just a flat crystal which sort of ruined the design in my opinion.
There are plenty of these available from what I see and they are incredible value at current pricing IMHO. Marc
It really makes the design.
