The Cartier ref. 78101 is nicknamed “Fabergé” because, when Cartier launched the Louis Cartier Collection in 1973, the maison assigned evocative names to several of the 12 different models (Ceinture, Gondole, Cristallor, etc.).

For this particular reference — a cushion‑shaped case with rounded cornersCartier chose the nameFabergé” as an explicit allusion to the world of Peter Carl Fabergé, especially the famous imperial eggs.

Very much like the case shape…

And model and as you can imagine prefer the WG version. The movement looks relatively pedestrian but for this kind of watch it doesn’t matter 😊👍🏻

Exactly, it doesn't matter.

Finding a WG model seems much harder than a YG one, unfortunately... Best, Emmanuel

Thank you — my eyes gravitate to the Faberge, the Gondolo, and the Vendome!

I can understand why!

Surprisingly, the Fabergé had never been reviewed on our site. 🤷🏽‍♂️ Best, Emmanuel

Very nice and clean dial. Can a person polish the gold a bit to remove the discoloration or is permanent.

I know, I know.....blasphemy to some.

Simply a matter of preference, not blasphemy. ;-)

And probably taking the risk of lowering the market value (if one cares about that). Best, Emmanuel
