Hi Tony, Thank you for a pictorial review of last year's Baselworld pieces for Gerald Genta and Daniel Roth. If you were to choose only one from each collection, which one would you see as the representative watch from each brand to continue under the new Bulgari collections? For me, I would like to see the Endurer from DR and the Gefica from GG. Just a few more days until Baselworld 2010 and all will be revealed. Regards, ED-209
I would regard the Athys Perpetual as a more appropriate selection for a "one-off" DR watch, as it features the classic case style of the brand. The Endurer was a departure for them, and actually I was not all that partial to it. I really am concerned about the possibility of Bulgari "toning down" these two brands - especially GG. The new Octo Quadri-Retro is an ominous indicator. There's nothing wrong with it as such - it's a nice design - but its dial is far more sedate than anything seen on l
Hello Tony, Thanks for the photos from the past, looking forward to seeing the 2010 line from Bulgari. -MW

Counterpoint: Since there is a lag-time between design development and novelty announcement of a year or more, the DR/GG novelties introduced by Bulgari this year should have been designed d
You could well be right that this design was in the works long before the "handover" occurred. Or the handover could have been in the works long before we knew about it. In which case, perhaps a new direction in dial design was mooted to coincide with a pre-Basel timing for announcement of the amalgamation. Or it could be that we are all reading too much into this one piece. Nevertheless, I can't help but feel that the Quadri-Retro is a significant step backwards for Gérald Genta, oops, the
You mentioned "GG were the first company to release a self-winding tourbillon movement in a wristwatch ". Do you know which watch this was and when? I had been under the impression that the AP was the first self-winding Tourbillon wristwatch A
