Fla25 shares his journey to acquiring his first Breitling, a 44mm blue Colt, driven by a desire to match his new car and a budget under 3k. This personal review details his research process, the challenges of finding the specific blue configuration, and his impressions after almost a year of ownership. Readers will gain insights into the Breitling Colt's wearability, aesthetics, and the author's experience with strap customization.

Although blue is my favorite color, I never owned any blue watch before this one (I admit it, in 2012 I went to a Bucherer Jeweler in Switzerland to see the new blue Submariner but I didn’t pay enough attention when it was launched on the market so I didn’t know it was completely made from white gold, then you could imagine my face when I was holding it and the guy told me It costed about 35k CHF!).

But anyhow, I bought a new blue car in 2015 so in order to ā€œmatch itā€ (I realize it sounds a little silly) I also wanted a sporty, fresh, automatic blue watch on a under-3k budget. After a long and careful research, my choice was this 44mm Breitling Colt that I purchased last March. I had read many articles about Breitling and also about the watches on that budget range (there are many and many of them!). I have also cosidered Oris, Hamilton (again), Tissot, Bulova, Montblanc and Baume&Mercier. Then, on the Breitling website I have many times ā€œbuilt my ownā€, and I felt in love with that particular blue tone, the concentric circles on the very blue dial and the ā€œBreitlingā€ write on the rubber strap. Btw, do you guys think they are ever going to update the website or it must look like a ā€˜90s one forever?

When finally at the shop, I could only try the black one, felt firm on the wrist, good looking and solid but I needed so see the blue one (which apparently in that configuration was not available anywhere in Europe) so I ā€œtrustedā€ my instinct and ordered it anyway over the very same catalogue a very nice girl who was there for Breitling gave me at the Baselworld. One week later it arrived and now it is almost one year old!

To conclude: it is solid and also not so heavy as it could seem thanks also to the rubber strap, easy to clean whatsoever, love the bezel, the dial and the very-well polished case while I think the strap is way too grippy on the wrist and that’s why I bought a military-green nato one last year and now I am waiting for a premium grey one I purchased online last week (I’m also not totally convinced about the anti-glare glass, sometimes it looks too violet). By the way, ever heard of nato straps branded Phenomenato? I look forward for it to be delivered but never saw one in person, therefore any comment/advise would be much appreciated. I’ll promise I’ll share new pics as soon as I get my hands on it!

Thanks to all for reading - hope was not boring smile

Cheers

Fla25, Thanks for your tale of Breitling Blue Chronometer; it was not boring at all. Nice to hear the background. I used to get Breitling for relatives and friends but had none myself...don't know why...it's a quirk like "never buying anything from Starbucks".. (Recently, a Breitling become mine by accident because the person I got it for "re-gifted" it back to me!) Your Breitling is very nice in most situations except I am reminded by an adage from a grandmother: "Blue and Green should never be

Maybe this new blue Breitling matches perfectly your car colour but it works very well too with the north Italian lakes (if I’m right) šŸ˜‰ Great shots and cool strap too. Best wishes Alkiro

I like the blue dials and your model has a great look - it’s no-nonsense and says ā€œyou can depend on meā€. Thanks! Cazalea

Dear MTF, thanks for reading! you're completely right that's why I bought the new grey one (which I'm still waiting)....I also think there are many others fashion faux pas around which I don't always like (brown & black for example) but trust me I do also listen to my grandma btw I swear it look better in person with the green strap cheers Flavio

Thanks for the comment, I'll send new pics when I receive the Phenomenato strap, let's see if the premium price for that matches the quality cheers Flavio
