Foversta presents an overview of Breguet's 2019 novelties, highlighting a year of consolidation rather than radical change for the brand. The report details new additions across the Classique, Marine, and Reine de Naples collections, offering critical insights into Breguet's strategic approach and design choices.
The Breguet Classique reference 5177 represents an automatic entry within the Classique collection, distinguished by its 38mm case proportions and rose gold construction. This reference utilizes automatic movement technology within the traditional Classique aesthetic framework.
The 38mm case is crafted from 18k rose gold and houses an automatic movement. The silver dial provides contrast against the warm gold case material. Sapphire crystal protects the dial surface, while the watch maintains 30 meters of water resistance. The bezel design remains fixed in position.
Reference 5177 appeals to collectors seeking automatic movement functionality within traditional dress watch proportions. The 38mm case size positions this reference for those preferring mid-sized case dimensions, while the rose gold construction and silver dial combination offers specific aesthetic preferences within the broader Classique automatic range.
Personally I find the 5177 the best simple dress watch they have to offer but this date window makes me cry... It's moderately sized with a movement that matches the case, a second hand that eliminates the dials emptiness and is also technical up to date with not just the hairspring being in silicon but also the escape wheel and the lever.
I like the enamel 5177, the Queen of Naples, and the Extra Flat Tourbillon, it looks quite spectacular, but needs to be seen live. Thanks for sharing. Vte
It is something I didn't write in the report because it is not specific to this 2019 collection. Once I said to the Breguet team that I would have preferred more traditionnal materials for the regulaing organ. They answered me that the will of AL. Breguet was to keep innovating. Let's say they are right... Thanks a lot! Fx
... but I dislike it if a manufacturer doesn’t follow any golden thread in that matter and equips here and there whatever they feel like. Of course I want the newest then. Either they should equip all models, none or only showcase models for their technical advancement like the Classique Chronometrie 7727 or the Type XXII 3880.
