This post serves as a testament to the vibrant community spirit on WatchProSite.
Dear friends
As years goes by time to recollect memories.
This year has been crazy, amazing, beautiful year for me…best ever by margin…but what makes great
horological year after all ----just 2 main ingredients--- watches and friendship and that I had this year
abound of.
Let me take you to the trip…. around the world and back… you don’t have to move just sit still…let me show you horological year in my eyes
1. Year of hallmarks
2017 was year of hallmarks in many areas for me
POTM series that was accepted with great enthusiasm by community was started
Record breaking by number of posts Black Wrist Scan…thank you all so much for that again!
I celebrated 10 years of posting with post I consider my best post ever written on WPS
I also celebrated my 20 000 posts and later passed 21 000 and 22 000 count…crazy!
During crazy summer we
celebrated even the grappa day
And after long decades
of waiting I managed to have my dream car…the one and only Alfa!

2. Watches
Year started slowly
In excruciating wait
for P15 arrival I got little vintage GP I call Ant Man

Then in June Ladybug landed on my wrist while I was looking after kids in park.
Call it omen or just coincidence things got crazy after

Many GP & Zenith
watches entered my collection.
I waited many years for them and the all stars aligned in
few crazy months…here big shout out to my GP Mafia friends for their
true friendship and love. Hugs!
The
Captain Chronometre

And cherry on cake was Zenith Piccadilly

both delivered during Zagreb GTG which brings me to most important part of great year in horology and that is friendship.
3. GTGs
Time when we celebrate our virtual friendship and make it long lasting real-life friendship.
Last year was not best ever only by number of novelties in my collection but also by number of GTGs
which I will break in 3 parts
a a) Coffees in Zagreb with Zabreg1
My made
man
and me had during last year many of them but
always with lot of fun and true passionate friendship…novelties…coffees…grappas….laughter….

b) One on one GTGs
On my bucket list I had two things among many
Playing
pool with Art and drinking grappa with Fernando…done and done!

c) Big GTGs
Dr No, KMII and Padj GTG in Zagreb….man like it was yesterday and like it has been light years between.

Summer GTG on Magic
Island with Zabreg1, Speedy74 and Gigi.

The GTG if you ask me and day when not only my decade long dream of having PuristS in Zagreb materialized but day my P15 was delivered…

Days I considered as genuine Purism as possible….

In the end watches are just material things that got us together and keep us occupied in our free time but in the end watches really don’t matter..
I don’t know and more and more don’t care what will happen with my watches once I’m gone…maybe they will be enjoyed by my kids…maybe sold…maybe gifted or just neglected…
what matters in the end is friendship and memories of us that will stay with our friends and loved ones…memories of us as good men and women that shared love and friendship…
so I’m specially thankful and happy at year’s end that I had chance to celebrate
love

Wishing everyone all the best in 2018!
DAll the best for these last 2017 days and for the New Year. Best wishes Alkiro
It’s time we sit at a bar face to face again.
Wonderful times. To meeting again...and many more grappas. Happy 2018!
I wager that the Alfa didn’t appreciate like the watches - but sometimes great acceleration & enjoyment is fleeting ;-) Hope we manage to meet up in 2018! All the best. Giles.
...full of watches and full of friendship and friendly meetings Best, Mike
Wishing an even better new addition to your collection in 2018
