For sale: 1924 EXTRA pocket watch made by Patek Philippe for Tiffany.

CASE is open-face 18k with inner dust cover. Monogram (WWH) on case back and personalization engraved inside. Engraved inside with Tiffany & Patek signatures. Case number matches movement number. Dimensions are 46mm diameter, 9.5mm thick.
Accompanied by a fitted leather pouch. An extract from the Patek Philippe archives is en route from Geneva, but has not been received by the owner of this watch. It will be included with the sale.

DIAL is porcelain, signed Tiffany & Co., Switzerland. No hairlines or damage. Two or three small spots of dirt are visible in the photos but are on the surface only. Hands are blued steel and in fine, original condition with no kinks.

MOVEMENT is 18-jewel EXTRA, fully adjusted, signed Patek for Tiffany. One screwed gold jewel setting, wolf’s-tooth winding wheels, micrometric regulator with swan’s-neck. There are two gold screws, located near the balance assembly, the purpose of which are unknown (please see photos). The notation ‘extra’ denotes a higher than usual quality and finishing and increased accuracy at the time of manufacture.

CONDITION is excellent and entirely original--no cleaning or regulating has taken place prior to listing this watch for sale. Aside from some accumulated dust (watch has been stored many years) and age cracks in the acrylic crystal there is little to mention. The bezel, cuvette and case back all fit tightly. There are two small dings near the case back hinge (please see the photo). The watch winds and sets properly and is running quite accurately. A quick check on a timing machine indicates it is running between -4 sec/day face up and +10 sec/day face down. Due to likely passage of many years since its last service, it is recommended to have the watch cleaned, oiled and regulated before putting it to regular use.

This is a particularly high-quality watch from the world’s most respected maker. The addition of the prestige of the Tiffany brand, the ‘extra’ quality of the movement, and the fact that this has been in the possession of a single family for 3 generations (seller is grandson of the original owner, a prominent figure in early 20th century news publishing) make this a rare and highly desirable piece.

PRICE: $12,500 US. Cost of standard, insured domestic shipping is included. Buyer is welcome to negotiate for specific, additional delivery services. Please e-mail me with questions or offers. I am selling on behalf of the owner, who is not familiar with this sales board.
Thanks for looking,
Brad
