When the young Pierre Jaquet Droz started the Manufacture Jaquet Droz in 1738, he'll never imagine almost 300 years later, his brand will be helmed by some of the most influential figures in the horology industry.
Manuel Emch (Romain Jerome) experimented exotic materials with Jaquet Droz pieces from the turn of the century, eventually it lead to his Titanic and Moon Dust DNA creations.
Nicolas Hayek took over and brought Jaquet Droz to another level. This man single handedly led Swatch Group to it's leader position and also revived some of the most important brands, Breguet, Blancpain, Jaquet Droz; namely.
When Nicolas Hayek passed away a year ago, his grandson Marc Hayek took over the helm in Breguet, Blancpain and Jaquet Droz.
Determined to uphold his grandfather's legacy. He began with the Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Quantieme.
More is expected, in time to come. Who knows, Jaquet Droz might just become one of the most dynamic icons under Swatch Group.
Elegant arabic numerals are cast over it's elegant slate grey dial.
A smooth sweeping hands glides over it's recessed sub second dial located around 8 o'clock. This could be one of the smoothest sweep movement found on a manual winding movement, almost like a Grand Seiko.
The GMT Indicator finds itself at home at 12. Setting of GMT time is done so with ease, just press the button located on the left uppermost of the case and it will advance itself. No more meddling with the main crown!
The Hour and Minute Hands have Skeleton Tips that will never obscure the reading of the GMT dial. Everything is works elegantly and with ease. Even with the lack of lume, one can always read the time easily with the reflections cast by the highly polished hands.
The modern functions of the watch is brought to life with a vintage Jaquet Droz elongated movement.
In it's heart, it sports 25 Jewels. Signed with Jaquet Droz's very own Clover Seal.
This movement have just been fully serviced and worn parts are replaced. It will serve you well for years to come.
All these, embodied in an elegant case. The lugs lends a masculine touch to it's classic curve lines. Crowned with a Royal Blue Sapphire Cabochon Crown.
Personally, I feel that this Jaquet Droz GMT is an anchor to it's past, present and future. The one watch that links it all.
An understated time piece for the confident gentleman.
