For sale is my Chopard LUC 16/1860/2 with the desirable 1.96 movement and guilloché dial in white gold.
If you’re seriously interested in this then you know its importance. Much has been written about the quality of the movement here so I won’t repeat it: 32 jewels, COSC-certified and with the Geneva seal, it has a micro-rotor, 70-hour power reserve and fine finishing and design I think is fabulous – it stands up very well against my Patek 5110, which has some similarities in layout and approach.
The guilloché dial, elegant hands/indices and white metal case also give a beautiful appearance – I always think that (date excepted) it has an air of the Simplicity about it, and the dial I understand is produced by Metalem, who also did dials for Dufour.
Size is very wearable (37mm and thickness is 8.4mm) so it works very well with a suit or where an understated watch is preferred.
Condition is mechanically sound but this is not lived as a safe queen: it has swirls and hairline scratches on the case commensurate with age and use but no deep dings that couldn’t be polished out that I can see. Watch keeps time and functions fine. It has the original Chopard tang buckle and a Chopard croc strap – the latter is probably due an update.
I've owned the watch since 2007. It does not have B&P but comes with a receipt for a service in 2007 (and guarantee card from Chopard NYC, now obviously expired) as well as a May 2011 service in London from the Chopard boutique there.
I’m selling as my eyesight is no longer good enough to delight in the movement and details and I no longer wear suits (the natural partner for this, I feel). Price reflects condition and is firm at this stage. No trades, please. Watch and I are in UK.
