Winding Ref. 3460

OK, I feel a bit oafish asking this one. I have an "old" Marine Chronograph, Ref. 3460, and like it a lot. However, the crown guards come up so high on the crown that I cannot get a good grip on it when I try to wind the watch. It isn't impossible for me to do, but it is ends up being considerably harder to wind than any other watch that I own. Do others have this problem, or should I resign myself to never playing the piano again? Can anyone recommend a single slot winding box that works well with this piece? Any experience with crown winders? I really am fond of the watch, and don't want it to lose wrist time because it is inconvenient for me  to keep wound.
