I thought the same about auction houses...
I once purchased a Rolex GMT which was represented as all original by Christie's. Turns out the bracelet was actually fake. I brought the problem to Sam Hines and Christie's speedily refunded my purchase price. This is exactly what you expect from a quality house. Unfortunately, doesn't sound like they all behave the same way
