Got my first Hublot!

Jun 23, 2018,02:08 AM

After the announcement of the first Sapphire cased models by Hublot, I was really intrigued to consider my first Hublot. Much to my dismay, the timepieces were too big for my wrist 45mm - so I passed on both the Unico and Spirit.

Fast forward to this year - I was walking around The Hour Glass in Singapore and noticed a Spirit and Unico Sapphire in the case. I tried the Spirit on my wrist - and I was first shocked as the watch seemed smaller than I remembered! How did my wrist get bigger - Did I get fatter or something else?

Little did I know they announced the 42mm version of the Spirit. Holy cow! I was hooked.

A few hours later, here it is!

Hope to share more impressions as the journey continues, but this watch is absolutely incredible!

Cheers all! Looking forward to joining the Hublot family.

Peter

Congratulations. I think like you I'd only seen and tried the larger model.

This looks good on your wrist. Definitely interesting and different with this case. Do you know anything about the durability of these cases? How do you think it will show signs of wear/age over time?

Thanks...

In terms of durability I can’t say much given the limited real world experience of watches with sapphire cases - except that what we do have is experience with watches with a large protuding sapphire crystal like those on Panerai. Experience seems positiv...

Thanks Peter. Those pesky diamonds need to be kept far far away for sure.

Perhaps no different than ceramic regarding unintentional dropping' let's just hope that doesn't happen. Enjoy it!

Yes indeed...

Hopefully no major drops - but having dropped platinum and steel watches in the past - never issues with the crystal so far. Also helps sapphire is much stronger than ceramic - but will see after a few years use! Cheers, Peter

Congratulations Peter!

And thanks for welcoming me to the family. I really like the watch box that comes with the watch - 100pct clear! I will take a picture of it later. Hublot is pretty smart with marketing! Cheers, Peter

Congrats 👍

If Hublot is that good with listening to their customers and updating their new range quickly? I heard others having similar feedback to have a smaller sapphire model. In any case patience pays off! Curious to see what other watch brands take on sapphire ...
