This is normal and the rotor sound of some certain caliber such as 26-330 even louder than this 240. You may wonder why micro-rotor has the same (or more) amount of sound as the normal rotor, it is because the thickness of micro-rotor is thicker than the normal one thus it can generates the same amount of torque. And it also can generates the same amount of rotating sounds. So no worries about it. It’s totally finesmile

On both my latest Patek (movement below) and my recent jlc moon phase I hear a lot the rotor moving when wearing them. Is that normal ??they are both brand new and in very good conditions so I am just wondering since none of my other watches are that nois...

Yes. Totally normal.

Not very 'elegant'...

...I never hear my Rolex rotor...but it's old.

It’s the bearings

But surprisingly it sometimes seems as if the small or micro rotors produce more sound as well

Yeah ! Had the same impression.

I barely move my wrist and I can hear the rotor dancing like crazy. Surprised me too the first time. Kev

Nothing to worry about...

Ok my older 5056p I can not hear anything though. Does it mean service ASAP ? Kev

My calibre 240 is noisy too

I got used to it now but found it quite weird at first

Disconcerting to me, and not high-end luxury.

JLC is a terrible culprit here. Who the heck wants to hear bearings rattling around in what's supposed to be a finely engineered movement? Regardless of the superiority of ceramic ball bearings, the noise is not luxury.

It’s normal!

And I have to confess: I like it! It makes the watch feel - and hear - alive. IMHO, the sound of the rotor on the 324 and 240 is exactly this: a ‘sound’, not a ‘noise’.

but that's a primary reason I put my 5980A on the wrist. I adore the sound, lol...
